Job summary

Dekko in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a capable Production Supervisor to manage and maintain production staff, schedule to meet customer demands, assure quality products, and on-time delivery. This role includes shipping/receiving, raw material control, and a strong emphasis on safety.

You will lead by example with lean principles, ensure discipline through timely reviews and corrective actions, and partner with the operations management team to meet plant goals.

Qualifications

• Excellent supervision and leadership capabilities.

• Requires lean business principles, learned through experience and available publications/courses.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Act independently.
• 3+ years of experience as a supervisor in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Have knowledge of all products produced at plant and customer base.
• Minimize delinquency and overtime.
• Ensure product builds correctly using standard work practices.
• Complete timely job reviews and handle disciplinary actions professionally.
• Assist with development and implementation of new corporate policies and safety practices.
• Support operations management and participate in Dekko training programs.
• Monitor scrap and rework; develop corrective action plans.
• Assist in meeting plant and corporate goals and drive 5S initiatives.
• Lead safety council and drive safety practices across the plant.
• Perform machine set-ups for efficient operation of equipment.

Job description

Manage and maintain production staff, scheduling production to meet customer demands assuring quality product and on time delivery. To include shipping / receiving, and raw material control, while instilling safety as a priority.

What You'll Do:

• Have knowledge of all products produced at plant and customer base.
• Minimize delinquency and use of overtime.
• Have knowledge of PI’s, specs and assure each product is being built correctly using standard work practices.
• Ensure all job reviews for personnel are completed on time and any disciplinary action that is warranted done professionally and timely.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new corporate and company policies as necessary and demonstrate a high standard of conduct in yourself.
• Assist the operations management team and others when requested.
• Participate in Group Dekko training programs and ensure your subordinates are made aware of these programs and encouraged to participate in them.
• Monitor scrap and rework assisting in the development of corrective action plans.
• Assist in meeting all plant and corporate goals.
• Strive to cross train employees that will allow for substitution and job rotation in all areas of production.
• Keep operations management informed of progress, problems, and ideas that relate to assigned projects and aggressively work toward achieving completion of these projects.
• Responsible to approve daily/weekly time records, work schedules and time off approvals for all direct labor employees.
• Assist in production reporting and layered process audits.
• Be alert to and report unsafe practices observed in our company and comply with all safety procedures.
• Assist with Community Team initiatives set forth by Group Dekko.
• Lead Safety Council.
• Assist with 5S projects, work to achieve Group Dekko goals in 5S, housekeeping, safety and visual facility.
• Assist in daily tier meetings and tier board upkeep.
• Additional responsibilities associated with a working supervisor and execute other duties/tasks as assigned.
• Work with towers team to make to assure the production of quality parts at all times.
• Perform machine set-ups for efficient operation of equipment.

What You'll Need:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Act independently
• 3+ years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment

• Bachelor or Associates Degree
• Lead manufacturing or Six Sigma Certificates
