Job summary

Tenneco Inc. in Frankfort, Indiana is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead 40–50 employees and ensure safe, quality production.

You will work with the Value Stream Manager, coordinate with the Supply Chain team, and drive continuous improvements, including 5S, to reduce costs and deliver on-time results.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or two-year college equivalent accepted, or 3–5 years related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret general business materials and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with data collection systems.

Responsibilities

• Participates in training to ensure quality product/services meet customer requirements.
• Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies; identifies emergency situations.
• Plan, assign, and direct work; oversee performance and attendance; address complaints.
• Coordinate production flow with Supply Chain and previous shift supervisors.
• Ensure work conforms to Work Instructions and production schedules; generate shift reports.
• Enforce company policies and safety regulations; suggest efficiency improvements.
• Balance overtime and manage time-cards; collaborate across departments for projects.
• Champion the 5S process and sustain area standards.

We are looking for a Production Supervisor for our Frankfort, Indiana plant, supervising 2nd shift. This position will report to the Value Stream Manager and will directly supervise 40 - 50 employees. The Production Supervisor ensures a safe work environment, drives quality improvements, develops a qualified workforce, reduces operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvements. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participates in training to produce a quality product / services, uses preventative measures to ensure the customer requirements and company standards are met.
• Comply with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
• Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reports all incidents to supervisor/ manager.
• Adhere to the facility’s quality, environmental, health and safety policies and procedures that are identified by the company management systems.
• Responsibilities include: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Excellent attendance is required.
• Works closely with the Supply Chain Department and the previous shift supervisors in scheduling and monitoring the flow of quality production parts from start to finish in all areas of the manufacturing plant.
• Ensures production teams are performing work in conformance with Work Instructions.
• Interprets specifications and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Coordinates and completes an accurate and thorough production report for the entire shift.
• Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and/or employees.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.
• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
• Resolves employee problems or submits unsettled problems to Operations Manager.
• Initiates contact for assistance with emergency maintenance, engineering, quality and or other problems.
• Completes necessary work orders for maintenance work.
• Approving time-cards and overtime.
• Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and specific projects.
• Works with the Production team on the monthly inventory and the annual physical inventory.
• Working scheduled overtime along with shift team members is required.
• Champions the 5S process and ensures standards are maintained for your area of responsibility.

EDUCATION:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; OR three year to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports for business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers.
• Familiarity with customer and company part #'s, blueprints and drawings.
• Proficiency and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and other data collection systems.
• Must be detail and quality oriented.
• Ability to work independently
