Job summary

Peninsula Plastics in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Thermoforming Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift. Lead a team across two nearby facilities, ensure safety, quality, and efficiency while coordinating with management. Shift runs 3:30PM–2:00AM Mon–Thu with OT on Fri/Sat; must commute to Pontiac and Auburn Hills locations. Compensation reflects $60k–$80k annually.

Qualifications

• Recent Plastics or Thermoforming experience required.
• Experience implementing change/improvement processes.
• Experience developing training programs for production workers.
• Previous plant operations experience.
• Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with plant tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a production team of 10–35 at two facilities.
• Train team on safety, production practices and quality standards.
• Ensure products meet quality and labor standards.
• Enforce and improve labor efficiencies.
• Motivate hourly employees and manage attendance.
• Coordinate with quality and understand the QMS for quality output.
• Interact with all management levels and staff.
• Track production progress across steps and materials readiness.
• Create corrective actions to reduce issues.
• Follow safety policies and production schedules.
• Handle basic employee admin tasks.

Peninsula Plastics is rapidly expanding and we are looking to add a Production Supervisor on our 2nd shift to work at our Pontiac location.

Location(s):

must be able to commute to BOTH locations (Pontiac and Auburn Hills located 1 mile from each other)

Shift:

3:30PM to 2:00AM Monday to Thursday (OT on Friday and Saturday)

Pay:

Hourly - $60,000 to $80,000 per year ($0.75 shift premium applied to 2nd shift)

Description

Our company specializes in manufacturing re-usable plastic packaging and is a leader in the thermoforming industry. We are currently looking for motivated individuals to join our team as a Thermoforming Production Supervisor. Supervisors are in charge of leading teams of 10-35 people operating Thermoforming machinery. Supervisors work closely with management to meet customer deadlines while maintaining a positive and safe environment.

Reports to:

President/CEO, VP of Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of production personnel at two facilities
• Training production team members in safety, proper production practices, and quality standards
• Ensure product being produced adheres to quality and labor standards
• Enforce and improve labor efficiencies
• Ability to motivate hourly employees to be productive and maintain good attendance
• Work directly with the quality department and have a good understanding of the QMS to produce quality products
• Interact with all levels of management and hourly employees
• Track products being produced in the manufacturing progress to ensure each step of the process is followed correctly
• Ensure all materials are staged and available when needed
• Create corrective action plans to reduce the repetition of incidences
• Follow company safety policies
• Follow production schedules
• Perform employee administrative duties such as scheduling, employee discipline, performance reviews, etc

Qualifications:

• Recent experience in Plastics or Thermoforming is required
• Experience with implementation of change/improvement processes
• Development of training programs for production workers
• Previous experience plant operations
• Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite
• Strong Organization Skills
• Familiarity with plant tools and equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
• Ability to Lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for 8+ hours
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
