Job summary

Parker Hannifin’s Parker Meggitt facility in Simi Valley, CA, seeks a Production Supervisor II – Electronics to lead the electronics production team and drive safety, quality, and efficiency on a complex manufacturing line.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline and at least 3 years of experience leading electronics manufacturing teams, with strong IPC standards knowledge and SAP/ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline required.
  • Years of experience: Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience, including experience leading teams.
  • Experience supervising electronics manufacturing/assembly with PCBAs, harnesses, and electromechanical subassemblies.
  • Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001); ability to lead IPC-certified solder operators.

Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. Production Supervisor II – Electronics
Position Summary

The Production Supervisor 2 (Electronic Focus) will coordinate and oversee daily operations of the electronics production team, prioritizing work to maximize flow and efficiency in a complex manufacturing environment. The individual implements the Parker Lean System and Win Strategy to ensure a safe work environment, drive quality and yield improvements, and deliver premier customer service. This role leads and engages technicians through clear communication, coaching, and accountability, executes daily production through staffing, schedule adherence, material readiness, and WIP control. The Production Supervisor II partners cross functionally to resolve build/test issues, and supports design-for-manufacturability improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example by ensuring all safety policies are followed to drive a zero-incident culture including safe soldering practices (fume extraction), chemical handling (flux/solvents), and ergonomic risk mitigation.
  • Lead a team of technicians while fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and supportive work culture.
  • Plan and execute daily manufacturing production: staffing, schedule adherence, material readiness, WIP control, and escalation of constraints.
  • Drives continuous improvement throughout assigned areas utilizing the Parker Lean System and CI tools (5S, visual management, standard work, kaizen, line balancing, TAKT/capacity planning) to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Establish and enforce standard work, work instructions, routings, and training/certification requirements for electronics assembly roles.
  • Manage quality systems such as defect containment, root cause, corrective actions (RCCA), and yield/FPY improvement.
  • Coach and verify soldering quality, rework practices, and visual inspection criteria for through-hole and SMT assemblies.
  • Monitor production schedules, drive process improvements, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, and train team members.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Test to resolve complex build and quality issues throughout production to reduce rework, scrap and drive a zero-defect culture.
  • Transfer new products into production and continually look for ways to improve existing products from a “design for manufacturability” approach.
  • Solve problems in straightforward situations; analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment and precedents.
  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with hourly team members ensuring that the weekly newsletters, events, training, etc. are properly communicated.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Support Value Stream Transformations using the Parker Lean System and Value Stream Tracking Center.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience supervising an electronics manufacturing/assembly team building units with printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), wire harnesses, and electromechanical subassemblies.
  • Working knowledge of PCBA handling, ESD controls, proper grounding, and electrostatic-safe workstations.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with IPC workmanship standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001); ability to lead teams that include IPC-certified solder operators (IPC-16/J-STD).
  • Knowledge of harness build and verification (crimp quality, pull testing, continuity checks, labeling, routing, strain relief, and connector standards).
  • Familiarity with test processes and equipment (functional test, continuity, hipot as applicable, programming / flashing if applicable) and managing test failure workflows.
  • Strong understanding of configuration control: revision management, BOMs, ECO/ECN implementation, and traceability/serialization requirements.
  • Effective people leadership: hiring/onboarding, skills matrix development, performance management, coaching, and cross-training plans.
  • Data-driven decision-making: ability to interpret defect data, Pareto trends, and implement measurable improvement actions.
  • Competence using ERP/MRP and shop-floor systems for labor reporting, inventory transactions, and production tracking.
  • Comfortable operating in regulated or customer-driven quality environments, strong documentation and traceability discipline.
  • Can develop team performance metrics independently.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and enterprise resource management tools (SAP preferred).
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
