Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in poultry/related field.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in production environment.
  • Experience in food production/packaging; poultry processing preferred.
  • Overseeing production teams, staffing, training, and daily goals.
  • Knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, and quality standards.
  • Ability to monitor performance and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational, communication, reading, writing, math, and analytical skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Onsite day shift with flexibility as production needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations within an assigned production or packaging department.
  • Coordinate production line activities to meet orders, quality standards, and customer specifications.
  • Manage staffing, line coverage, attendance, and employee assignments.
  • Train, coach, and develop 25–50 employees; communicate expectations and address performance concerns.
  • Monitor and report production yields, efficiencies, and labor utilization.
  • Maintain compliance with HACCP plans, GMP requirements, and required food safety records.
  • Enforce safety practices and applicable USDA, OSHA, EEO, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and plant leadership to keep equipment and work areas operating safely and efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material utilization, processes, and productivity through lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Lead team meetings and maintain training and operational documentation.
  • Work effectively with other managers and USDA representatives.
  • Stay informed about relevant poultry processing technologies and systems.
  • Learn departmental operations and support additional production responsibilities as needed.

Needed
  • Associate degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a production environment. The source description also allows relevant business coursework as a substitute.
  • Experience in food production or packaging; poultry processing experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing production teams, staffing, employee training, and daily production goals.
  • Working knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, quality standards, and safe manufacturing practices.
  • Proven ability to monitor production performance and support continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational, communication, reading, writing, math, and analytical skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work onsite on day shift, with flexibility as production needs require.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift and work in a cold, wet, humid poultry processing environment with exposure to animal by-products.
