Job summary

Valmont Industries in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead and develop a team of production staff, oversee manufacturing processes, and ensure safety and quality standards are met. The role reports to the Operations Manager and may involve up to 45 direct reports, with a schedule that supports our operations.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma with extensive relevant experience or a degree with several years in supervision, and strong skills in leadership,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus 7+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong leadership and the ability to support divisional objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proven supervisory experience and leadership ability.
  • Ability to calculate pay changes, proportions, and product dimensions.
  • Passion and integrity with drive to excel and deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, motivate and mentor production employees and manage the production process.
  • Implement and assign work schedules to maximize manpower, machines, and equipment utilization.
  • Analyze setup time, review labor hours, and meet production control schedules.
  • Define production standards and monitor performance of assigned personnel.
  • Ensure inspection checks and quality assurance procedures are followed.
  • Administer and support company policies and procedures consistently.

A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Production Supervisor position for Ok Operations. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will supervise, train, motivate and mentor Valmont production employees and manage the production process of Valmont products. Implement and assign work schedule to maximize utilization of manpower, machines, and equipment Analyze setup time and ensure accuracy, review labor hours, and meet production control schedules Defines expected production standards and monitors performance standards of assigned personnel Ensure inspection checks and quality assurance are occurring to produce high quality products Administer and support company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner

Other Important Details about the Role:
  • This position reports to Operations Manager and could have up to 45 direct reports
  • Observe assigned personnel to ensure proper operation of assigned equipment
  • Promote a continuous productivity improvement climate that encourages suggestions for improvement
  • Train new employees about organizational activities and safety policies and procedures
  • Administer and support company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
Required Qualifications:

High school diploma and 7+ years of relevant experience or Associates Degree with 5+ years relevant experience or Bachelors with 3+ years of relevant experience Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional objectives The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals Highly qualified candidates will also possess: A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook A proven record of supervisory experience and must have strong leadership The ability to calculate figures such as pay changes for employees, proportions and percentages, and product dimensions Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Much be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is performed in a factory setting, with most of the time being spent moving around different areas of manufacturing and shipping areas. The incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, fire, smoke, unstable debris and confined spaces. Environment is fast-paced and demanding most of the time. This position will require long days to support the Quality initiative for a multi-site, four shift, seven day a week operation. The employee is frequently required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrist rests. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds in working with large files, binders, computer equipment and shop equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
