Job summary

Brunswick Corporation’s Mercury Marine division seeks a production supervisor in Fond du Lac, WI. You will lead daily production, assign work, and drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements on the shop floor.

Responsibilities include on-floor supervision, staffing decisions, safety audits, root cause analyses, and leading cross-functional teams to resolve issues. You will model Brunswick Values and mentor frontline employees to develop talent.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong employee relations management experience.
  • Ability to coach, direct, and develop employees.
  • Mechanical aptitude and collaboration with operators.

Responsibilities

  • Own and track the four main metrics: safety, quality, delivery, productivity.
  • supervise on the production floor ~75% of time, 25% admin/projects.
  • Maintain Brunswick values and professionalism in communications.
  • Lead line or area with front-line employees and leads; assist staffing decisions.
  • Oversee safety, PPE adherence, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis with Quality to resolve defects and warranty issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement using tools like 5S, 6S (as applicable), root cause analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and business plans; manage cost, inventory.

Position Overview

As part of the Operations team, you will supervise production employees and assign work, meeting safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. Recommend and execute improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions through listening, engaging employees, and problem solving. Act as the company conduit for employee communications to keep employees abreast of news and information.

Essential Functions
  • Own the four main metrics (safety, quality, delivery, productivity/people) – understand results and implement action plans to close gaps and meet targets.
  • Typically spend 75% of time on the floor in direct supervision of daily production, 25% on administrative and project tasks.
  • Adhere to and model Brunswick’s Employee Value Proposition and Values (Innovative, Driven, Exceptional, Authentic, United).
  • Display professionalism and represent the company as a leader in all communications with employees at all levels.
  • Utilize tools such as MS Office, Shop Floor Manager, OBMS, etc., to execute daily responsibilities and project work.
  • Oversee a line or area within a department, including responsibility for front‑line employees and leads; understand staffing needs, review nominal headcount, interview for open roles, and make candidate selection decisions.
  • Responsible for safety of the team and safety compliance, including PPE adherence, safety policy adherence, conducting safety audits, and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions. Conduct incident investigation reports in partnership with EH&S.
  • Conduct root cause analysis in partnership with Quality on defects, drive resolution, address repeat warranty issues, and drive corrective actions around compliance findings.
  • Conduct and lead Continuous Improvement efforts using tools such as Andon, Spaghetti Diagrams, Line Balancing, 5S, DMIAC, Root Cause Analysis, etc.; identify roadblocks and barriers, pull together and lead cross‑functional teams to address issues and execute actions.
  • Drive accountability to policies and procedures; make discretionary decisions guided by policies, procedures, and the business plan.
  • Manage performance issues, administer disciplinary actions, conduct performance evaluations for all employees.
  • Resolve conflict within and across teams; investigate routine personnel issues in partnership with HR.
  • Create action plans from Employee Opinion Survey results and drive execution for areas of responsibility.
  • Manage timekeeping and absenteeism; update UKG/Kronos, sign off on timecards, ensure compliance with start/stop times, break times, and mealtimes.
  • Understand and manage the production schedule and its impact on other areas; communicate to internal customers any changes or deviations and make action plans with support functions when needed.
  • Work with leaders in upstream and downstream processes to achieve metrics—partner with peers to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Ensure development of the team as part of succession and talent planning.
  • Manage cost, expense, and inventory control of material and supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong employee relations management experience.
  • Ability to coach, direct, and develop employees.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work closely with operators.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UKG/Kronos.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience.
Working Conditions
  • Works in a combined office and warehouse/production‑floor environment.
  • May require occasional early‑morning, late‑evening, or weekend work, depending on current production needs.
  • Physical activity such as walking and bending to inspect inventory locations but includes periodic desk‑based analytical work.
Compensation

Hiring range: $73,900 – $90,500 annually. Base pay will vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and business needs.

In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and participation in Brunswick’s comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, 401(k) (up to 4% match), Health Savings Account (company contribution), well‑being program, product purchase discounts, and more.
