Job summary

South Chicago Packing LLC in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily workflow in a lean, safety-driven manufacturing environment. You will coordinate teams across shifts, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance with food safety and company policies.

This role requires 2–5 years of manufacturing experience, strong communication and training skills, and the ability to work rotating day/night shifts. Proficiency in MS Office and OSHA knowledge are preferred.

***Please Note: The schedule for this position is from 7am to 7pm. Due to that schedule, it is four 12-hour shifts one week then three 12-hour shifts the next week (then repeat)***

Position Description:

Performs functions to achieve results by supervising and coordinating workflow activities and employees in a production environment with a safety-minded attitude that maintains and enhances a safety culture for the benefit of the Company and its employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maximizes teamwork and productivity, minimize costs, and maintain quality through implementation of lean manufacturing techniques to manage, direct, and coordinate all production activities, per assigned shift
• Actively participates in and enforces compliance of employee and food safety programs
• Supports a safety focused culture by driving employee safety programs and conducting training, inspections, policy/procedure compliance, and follow up
• Drives continuous improvement and facilitates total employee involvement in the process
• Collaborates with the team to ensure regulations are followed, schedules are met, and quality exceeds customer expectations
• Monitors, inspects, and assumes accountability for production rates, equipment, and overall quality to ensure conformance to product specifications
• Troubleshoots problems/issues, then develops, recommends, and initiates action steps that provide resolution to achieve positive results
• Audits and enforces plant compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, guidelines and governance
• Serves as a role model for workers in terms of work ethic, professional image, and conduct in full compliance with all work rules and policies.
• Performs other functions as assigned
• Coaches, counsels, motivates and disciplines employees in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures
• Oversees employee participation and adherence to food safety and employee safety programs and policies
• Maintains staff by orienting and training employees on company rules, safety, and job functions
• Guides the enforcement of systems, policies, and procedures consistently and fairly
• Resolves personnel issues in accordance with company guidelines and policies

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 2 - 5 years manufacturing experience
• Effective communication and training skills
• Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
• Able to effectively speak, read and write in English
• Able to workdays and nights (rotating schedule)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including basic knowledge of spreadsheets
• Understanding of OSHA and general safety guidelines
• Basic experience in the application of lean manufacturing processes or similar process, preferred
• Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience preferred
