Job summary

Gummi World in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a production shift for gummies. You will ensure daily output targets, maintain quality, and enforce cGMP, GDP and food safety standards.

You will manage staff, coordinate equipment and materials, and support CAPAs while driving continuous improvement and safe, audit-ready operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in food, confectionery, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in production.
• Experience with cGMP, GDP, and food safety requirements.
• Experience with batch records, line clearances, and in-process quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Lead a shift of production staff to meet daily output goals for volume and quality.
• Ensure batch records are accurate and GDP/ALCOA+ compliant before release.
• Maintain line clearances, cart tags, and accurate in-process checks.
• Oversee safety, sanitation, and adherence to cGMP requirements (21 CFR Part 111/117).
• Track KPIs, report to Production Manager, and train staff in Lean/5S/6S.

Job Overview:

The Production Supervisor leads a shift of production staff and is responsible for meeting daily output goals for both the volume and the quality of bulk gummies produced. The Supervisor allocates people and equipment to maximize efficiency and holds the team to cGMP, food safety, and workplace safety standards. The Supervisor also steps in to cover key roles during call-outs.

Key Responsibilities

Production and Quality

• Ensure the shift meets production targets for volume, quality, yield, and efficiency, including OEE, downtime, and waste
• Verify that batch records are accurate, complete, and follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP/ALCOA+) before they leave the area
• Confirm that cart tags are properly completed and attached to all bulk gummy carts
• Ensure line clearances are performed and documented before and after each batch
• Ensure in-process checks are completed and documented on time
• Confirm the right number of batches are weighed, verified, and staged before the shift starts
• Report critical product defects or deviations to QA immediately, and support investigations and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Compliance and Safety

• Enforce cGMP requirements, such as 21 CFR Part 111 for dietary supplements or Part 117 for food, as they apply to our products
• Enforce allergen control, sanitation, and food safety programs (HACCP/SQF/BRCGS as applicable)
• Ensure all personnel wear the required PPE and follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout
• Keep the work area clean, orderly, and audit-ready at all times
• Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits

Equipment and Systems

• Keep equipment logs up to date
• Ensure equipment is maintained according to preventive maintenance (PM) and sanitation schedules
• Report equipment problems immediately to Maintenance and to the Production Manager
• Enter and verify production, inventory, and labor data in NetSuite ERP accurately and on time
• Build and adjust shift schedules to meet production plans and staffing needs

People Leadership

• Manage, assign, and report on attendance, punctuality, and performance for hourly and temporary staff
• Train and develop team members, and document training and proficiency progress
• Coach employees, give feedback, and handle disciplinary issues in partnership with HR
• Lead shift-start meetings and communicate clearly at shift handoffs
• Promote continuous improvement using Lean, 5S/6S, and root cause analysis

Reporting

• Report daily production output, efficiency, downtime, and staffing levels
• Track shift KPIs and recommend improvements

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 5 years of experience in food, confectionery, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a production environment
• Working knowledge of cGMP, GDP, and food safety requirements
• Experience with batch records, line clearances, and in-process quality checks
• Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in food science, manufacturing, operations management, or a related field
• Gummy, confectionery, or depositing line experience, such as starch mogul or starchless depositing
• HACCP, PCQI, or SQF Practitioner certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training (Yellow or Green Belt)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Stand and walk for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Work in a production environment with heat, noise, and allergens
• Wear required PPE, including hairnets, gloves, smocks, and safety glasses
