Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Production Supervisor to coordinate labor, supervise development, and ensure safe, efficient plant operations. You will partner with Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse to drive continuous improvement and achieve production goals.

This hands-on leadership role emphasizes coaching, problem-solving, and a strong safety mindset to optimize productivity and employee growth in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (preferred) in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.
  • Experience with MES, SAP or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote safe work practices in line with regulations and company policies.
  • Perform quality checks on equipment, processes, and work areas to meet standards.
  • Develop and manage employee work schedules to meet production goals.
  • Delegate responsibilities and guide team members for efficient workflow.
  • Train, cross-train, coach, and develop employees with ongoing feedback.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions when necessary per policy.
  • Monitor inventory levels through cycle counts and maintain accuracy.
  • Generate and review daily reports to ensure shift continuity and identify improvements.
  • Collaborate with Quality to maintain and improve standards.
  • Develop action plans to boost productivity and overall plant performance.
  • Document injuries and investigate incidents, following up with corrective actions.
  • Participate in hiring activities and support onboarding and development.
  • Review and recommend personnel actions for approval.

About the Role

As a Production Supervisor , you will play a key role in coordinating labor assignments, supervising employee development, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. This position partners closely with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives, foster a positive work environment, and achieve production goals.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who excels at coaching teams, solving problems, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

  • Perform quality checks on equipment, processes, and work areas to ensure customer and quality standards are met.

  • Develop and manage employee work schedules to achieve production and operational goals.

  • Delegate responsibilities and provide direction to team members to ensure efficient workflow.

  • Train, cross-train, evaluate, and develop employees while providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

  • Initiate and support disciplinary actions when necessary in accordance with company policies.

  • Monitor and supervise cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels.

  • Generate and review daily operational reports to ensure shift continuity and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Identify, communicate, and elevate maintenance concerns to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to establish, maintain, and improve quality standards.

  • Develop and implement action plans to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall plant performance.

  • Document injuries, investigate incidents, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Participate in hiring activities and support employee onboarding, coaching, development, and performance management.

  • Review and recommend personnel actions for approval.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.

Who You Are

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree with an emphasis in Management, Supervision, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse systems, including MES, SAP, or similar platforms.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to build productive working relationships and foster teamwork across departments.

  • Strong coaching and employee development skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility as needed.

  • Ability to respond to operational issues across production and warehouse areas.

  • Ability to perform additional physical activities required to support plant operations.
