Description

We are looking for a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to coordinate the daily workflow in our Ford dealership service department. This role is responsible for dispatching repair orders, assigning work to the right technicians, and keeping the shop running efficiently throughout the day.

The Production Supervisor serves as the connection between service advisors and technicians, ensuring the right work gets to the right technician at the right time. The ideal candidate understands automotive service operations, can prioritize competing demands, and knows how to keep a busy shop productive without sacrificing quality or customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch and Assign Work: Review incoming repair orders and assign jobs to technicians based on skill level, certifications, experience, availability, and workload.
  • Maximize Shop Efficiency: Monitor workflow throughout the day to minimize technician downtime, reduce bottlenecks, and maximize available labor hours.
  • Manage Daily Production: Balance the workload across the shop to ensure repair orders are completed efficiently and work moves through the department on schedule.
  • Match Jobs to Technician Skill Sets: Ensure complex diagnostic and repair work is assigned to appropriately qualified technicians while routine maintenance and other jobs are dispatched effectively.
  • Monitor Work in Progress: Track repair order status, identify delays, and proactively adjust assignments to keep production moving.
  • Coordinate with Service Advisors: Communicate job priorities, technician availability, estimated completion times, and potential delays.
  • Support Technicians: Help resolve workflow issues, clarify job priorities, and ensure technicians have the information and resources needed to complete their work.
  • Improve Productivity: Identify opportunities to increase technician efficiency, improve labor-hour production, and streamline shop processes.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Help ensure repairs are completed correctly, efficiently, and in accordance with dealership procedures and Ford standards.
  • Promote Accountability: Monitor productivity and workflow performance, communicate expectations, and help maintain a high-performing service department.
  • Maintain a Safe, Organized Shop: Support compliance with safety procedures and maintain an orderly, professional service environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience in an automotive repair shop, dealership service department, or automotive production environment preferred.
  • Understanding of automotive repair processes, technician skill levels, and service department workflow.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make quick, effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technicians, service advisors, and service management.
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities while keeping the big picture in mind.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems and repair order processes preferred.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and hold people accountable.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, productivity, and results.

  • Technician productivity and overall shop throughput improve.
  • Service advisors and technicians communicate effectively and work together as a team.
  • The department consistently meets production goals while maintaining high-quality repairs and customer satisfaction.
