Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC is seeking a Shift Supervisor for a large international chemical producer's Batavia, IL site. The role covers a brand-new 3rd shift in a continuous, highly automated operation, with supervision of floor activity and shift-wide coordination from the control room.

You will shape how the shift runs, lead ~12 operators across multiple process areas, and balance floor work with scheduling, reporting, and batch traceability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field, or 5+ years leading people in hands-on chemical processing.
• Continuous process chemical experience required; polymer/coatings/plastics/extrusion backgrounds translate well.
• PSM exposure preferred.
• Shift leadership experience in chemical/industrial manufacturing with on-site decision authority.
• Background with automated process controls preferred.
• Comfortable splitting time between floor and desk.
• Steady work history showing growth inside past employers.

Responsibilities

• Direct a crew of roughly a dozen operators across several process areas.
• Get ahead of reaction issues and deviations; make calls when something goes sideways.
• Set batch schedules, verify raw material inventory, coordinate inbound tanker unloads.
• Watch process systems from the control room and enforce standards.
• Document shift activities, including batch traceability records and deviations.
• Plan manual work such as raw material loading, QC sampling, and cleanouts.
• Own safety, housekeeping, and operating standards for the shift.

Location: Batavia, IL (On-site)
Compensation: $85,000 to $105,000 + bonus
Schedule: New 3rd shift, 24/7 operation with weekend rotation

Overview

A large international chemical producer is adding a shift supervisor as its suburban Chicago plant moves from two shifts to three. The process is continuous and heavily automated, with operators running things from a central control room while the supervisor covers the floor across every production area. Expect to spend most of the shift out on the floor, with the rest going to scheduling, reporting, and coordination. Because the shift is brand new, the person who takes it will shape how it runs.

What the Job Involves
