Job description

Krosswood Doors is hiring a Production Superintendent to run the floor in an assigned production department - the people, the schedule, the standards, and the results. This is a floor leadership job, not a desk job. You spend your day in the department with your team, making the calls in real time and owning what comes off the line.

We build doors that people live with for decades, and we care about doing it safely, consistently, and better each quarter. If you are the kind of leader who walks the floor, coaches in the moment, and can point to numbers that improved because you were there, we would like to meet you.

Before You Apply: What This Job Is Really Like
  • You will be on the floor and on your feet for most of the day. This is not an office role.
  • Our plant is not climate controlled. Summer afternoons on the floor run 90 degrees and above.
  • Order flow varies. The mix changes daily, and you will re-plan and re-sequence work on the fly rather than working from a fixed schedule handed to you.
  • We run lean. There is no staff group to hand problems to - you and your team solve them.
  • The work is physical, fast, and hands-on. The people who do well here like it that way.

If that sounds like the environment you want, keep reading. If it does not, we would rather you know now than find out in month three.

What You Will Do
  • Daily Production Execution
    • Lead daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and schedule attainment within the assigned department
    • Direct and oversee daily activities to keep workflow moving and eliminate downtime
    • Adjust labor allocation and sequencing as daily demand and order mix change
    • Lead daily production meetings with clear communication on goals, results, and expectations
  • Safety Leadership
    • Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safe work practices and company safety standards
    • Identify hazards and conduct daily safety observations
    • Ensure proper PPE use, machine guarding, and safe behavior throughout the department
  • Quality Management
    • Ensure products meet established quality standards by following SOPs and preventing defects
    • Enforce in-process quality checks and hold the department accountable for first-pass yield
    • Address quality issues promptly and reinforce process discipline
    • Partner with Quality and Maintenance to reduce rework and prevent equipment-related delays
  • Team Leadership and Accountability
    • Lead, coach, and develop department employees by setting clear expectations
    • Provide regular feedback and recognize strong performance
    • Address performance concerns directly and in a timely manner
    • Build a team culture of ownership, respect, and accountability
  • Standard Work and SOP Compliance
    • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures, standard work, and established best practices
    • Help develop and update SOPs and work instructions as processes change
  • Actively identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Find production bottlenecks and implement changes that eliminate waste and increase throughput
  • Conduct daily 6S walks to reinforce process discipline and layout organization
  • Performance Management
    • Monitor departmental KPIs and maintain accurate production reporting
    • Use daily scorecards and visual management tools to drive accountability and improvement
    • Deliver accurate, real-time updates to the General Manager on production progress and issues
How We Will Measure Success

These are the numbers your department owns, and they are the same metrics your annual bonus is tied to:

  • Quality: first-pass yield, scrap, rework and escapes
  • Delivery: output per hour and on-time order completion
  • People: retention, cross-training coverage, and performance management to every team member
What You Bring
  • Experience leading people on a production floor - supervisors, leads, and working foremen ready to step up are encouraged to apply
  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled plant and being on your feet through the shift
  • The ability to re-plan calmly when the day changes on you
  • A safety-first mindset and the willingness to hold the line on standards
  • Comfort using production metrics to make daily decisions
  • Clear communication and coaching skills, including with hourly team members
  • Working knowledge of Excel and an ERP or MRP system

  • Skilled trades or military leadership experience
  • Hands-on familiarity with woodworking equipment
  • Lean, 6S, or continuous improvement training
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
What We Offer
  • Salary of $72,000 to $85,000 per year, based on experience
  • A 10% annual bonus tied to KPI attainment - the same scorecard metrics listed above
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • 401(k)
  • A leadership role with real authority over how your department runs
  • A culture focused on craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement
