Job summary

Ash Grove Cement, a CRH Company, is seeking a Production Supervisor to coordinate 12-hour rotating shifts across mill and kiln operations. You will lead a team, ensure safety, and maintain production plans in a dynamic cement manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of production experience with process control preferred.
• Vocational/technical production background is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Follow plans and schedules for mill and kiln operations with maintenance, quality control, shipping, and production staff.
• Set and communicate shift responsibilities and schedules.
• Supervise, evaluate, and record attendance of shift personnel.
• Lead regular safety meetings and training.
• Conduct safety inspections and order safety equipment as needed.
• Monitor kiln burning, raw mill, and finish mill operations.
• Review production data and prepare reports.
• Assist with production problems and ensure smooth operations.
• Address union concerns and grievances.
• Supervise record keeping of BIF operating parameters.
• Serve as Alternate Emergency Coordinator for the Emergency Response Team.
• Attend RCRA training for waste-derived fuel activities.
• Order tools and supplies for production use.
• Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance on mills, kilns, and machinery.
• Provide management with current operations and manpower status.

Summary:

The Production Supervisor coordinates and oversees production operations involved in the manufacturing process. The Production Supervisor works 12 hours - rotating shifts (Days/Overnights) rotating 4 days/nights on/4 days/nights off.

What you'll be contributing:

• Follows plans and schedules of mill and kiln operations in coordination with maintenance, quality control, shipping, and production personnel.
• Establishes, assigns, and communicates job responsibilities and schedules for the shift personnel directly involved in the production process.
• Supervises and evaluates job performance. Monitors and maintains records of attendance.
• Participates, conducts and ensures regular safety meetings and training sessions are held.
• Conducts safety inspections and orders safety equipment per safety guidelines to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitors kiln burning operations and raw mill and finish mill grinding operations.
• Reviews production data and prepares reports.
• Assists employees with production problems and ensures satisfactory production operations.
• Assists in resolving union problems and grievance.
• Supervises record keeping and monitoring of BIF operating parameters as generated from the plant control room.
• Serves as Alternate Emergency Coordinator for the Emergency Response Team.
• Attends RCRA training for waste-derived fuel activities.
• Orders tools and supplies needed for use in the manufacturing process.
• Requests and supervises repairs and preventive maintenance performed on the mills, kilns, and other machinery used in production operations.
• Provides information regularly to management regarding current operations and manpower status.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

• H.S. Diploma / GED Required
• Preferred 3 years of experience in production with emphasis on process control in a similar industry
• Minimum of Vocational / Technical experience in Production, process control, or similar related field.
• Ability to lead/manage others
• Ability to effectively manage conflict
• Knowledge of production operations involved in the industry, kiln-burning techniques, and processes
• Knowledge of the mill grinding, process control design, inventory estimation using geometric calculations and machines utilized in the production process
• Knowledge of air permit regulations and safety requirements
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk over rough and slippery surfaces, stand for long periods of time, bend and kneel.
• Ability to refer to supervisor for guidance on unusual problems or circumstances.
• Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
• Ability to work under general supervision on assigned objectives.
