Job summary

Green Thumb is seeking a Production Scheduler to own the Master Production Schedule and translate demand plans into executable weekly and daily schedules.

You will align with Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, and Quality to ensure smooth production flow while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The Role

Production Scheduler owns the day-to-day and week-to-week production schedule. This role turns demand and supply plans into real, executable schedules while balancing labor, materials, inventory, quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll be working with a high number of SKUs, changing priorities, and real-world constraints. We’re looking for someone who can think ahead, stay flexible, and roll up their sleeves when things don’t go to plan.

This role is critical to minimizing inventory risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling profitable growth. The Production Scheduler serves as the central decision-maker for production sequencing, acting as the connective tissue between Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Operations, Quality, and Compliance.

Responsibilities

1. Production Scheduling & Execution
2. Own and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across all product categories.
3. Convert monthly production plans into detailed weekly and daily schedules by department and process.
4. Sequence production to optimize throughput, minimize changeovers, and protect quality outcomes.
5. Continuously adjust schedules based on:
6. Demand changes
7. Labor availability
8. Material constraints
9. QA release timing
10. Regulatory limitations
11. Establish and maintain routings, run rates, batch sizes, and standard hours for all unit operations.
12. Balance line loading across departments and shifts, including overtime planning and resource reallocation.
13. Cannabis Regulatory & Compliance Scheduling
14. Integrate state and company regulatory requirements into all production schedules, including:
15. Batch size limits
16. Lot and genealogy dependencies
17. Mandatory QA hold and testing timelines
18. Quarantine and remediation scenarios
19. Coordinate production timing with state traceability systems (e.g., METRC or equivalent).
20. Schedule production around:
21. State inspections and audits
22. Reporting deadlines
23. Compliance-driven process constraints
24. Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks related to production timing or sequencing.
25. Inventory & Material Planning
26. Monitor and manage WIP and Finished Goods inventory to align with shipment velocity and sales forecasts.
27. Build and maintain input allocations based on:
28. Inventory availability
29. Demand priorities
30. Shelf-life considerations
31. Confirm material readiness prior to schedule release and
32. Partner with Inventory and Finance teams to ensure reconciliation between AFS (available-for-sale) and state systems
33. Demand, Supply & Tradeoff Decisions
34. Review demand forecasts and call out when plans don’t match capacity or constraints.
35. Help leadership understand the tradeoffs between:
36. SLA (Service Level Agreement)
37. Inventory
38. Labor cost
39. Compliance risk
40. Participate in S&OP / planning conversations as the voice of production reality.
41. Own schedule changes and escalation when plans break.
42. Labor & Capacity Planning
43. Build and maintain capacity models by department and process.
44. Identify bottlenecks and work with Operations to improve flow.
45. Use historical performance to improve schedule accuracy and labor planning.
46. Help translate staffing plans into executable schedules.
47. Quality & Release Timing
48. Coordinate schedules with QA for:
49. Sampling
50. Testing turnaround
51. Release timing
52. Adjust production plans when quality outcomes change.
53. Support continuous improvement tied to yield, quality, and efficiency.
54. Systems, Data & KPIs
55. Act as a key owner of scheduling-related systems, including ERP, traceability, and reporting tools.
56. Maintain clean, accurate scheduling data across systems.
57. Track and report key metrics such as:
58. Schedule adherence
59. Plan attainment
60. Inventory accuracy
61. Changeover efficiency
62. Production efficiency impacts
63. Labor Utilization
64. Use data to spot issues early and drive improvements.
65. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production environment as a Production Supervisor or similar supply chain and procurement experience.
2. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook). Tableau & State Tracking systems (METRC, Biotrack, & MJ Freeway) a plus.
3. Initiative-taking, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness.
4. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with commitment to quality work.

Green Thumb Pay Range

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
