Job summary

Thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America in Hamilton, OH seeks a Quality Engineer to plan and conduct QA activities for industrial processes, materials and products. You will document data, lead 8D/Six Sigma problem solving, and drive containment and corrective actions to ensure conformance across assembly lines.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering or related field with 5+ years in automotive manufacturing, knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP/PPAP, and SPC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or three plus years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IATF and AIAG core tools requirements including customer requirements.
  • Five years of experience in automotive component manufacturing, including experience with APQP, PSO, PPAP, Control Plans, and FMEA.
  • Experience in presenting technical and project information to team members, management and customers.
  • Experience applying statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data and evaluating current process and process changes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties are performed safely by self and others.
  • Adheres to and enforces requirements defined by IATF 16949.
  • Plans and conducts analysis, inspection, and testing to assure the quality of assigned products and assembly lines.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Leads problem-solving process (8D, Six Sigma) for internal and customer issues.
  • Leads initiatives to reduce failure costs (scrap, rework, warranty, etc).
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Stops the production line in case of a non-conformity.
  • Organizes containment activities to protect the customer and assembly lines from defective products.
  • Executes studies which support PPAP activities for new product validation.
  • Actively contributes to the Shopfloor Management Process.
  • Conducts process readiness audits and release of production after integrations and modification to assembly lines.
  • Performs LPA process audits, addresses findings and implements corrective actions.
  • Makes quantifiable, risked based decisions about validation of processes following downtime or maintenance events.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with other cross-function team members - Especially across multiple shifts.

Your responsibilities
Summary

Plans and conducts activities related to the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties:

*** Target Compensation Range is $75,000 - 95,000/yr ***

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or three plus years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer and Technology Skills

Knowledge of MS Office, GD&T, Quality control tools, Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Additionally, an individual should have knowledge of the usage of test equipment like hand gages, comparator, plug gages, various test stands, basic CMM handling.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business journals or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. German language speaking skills is an added plus.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as: probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
