General Job Description

Dogwood Industries is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Production Planning Supervisor to oversee and lead the work order planning process across our engineer-to-order manufacturing operations. This role will supervise a team of planners and act as a key liaison between Projects, Engineering, Design, Procurement, and Production to ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient release of work orders and production routings in our ERP system. The Planning Supervisor plays a critical role in coordinating efforts to support the build of large, metal structures with manufacturing workflows and variable production requirements.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for process improvement and a desire to build systems from the ground up. They should bring strong leadership skills, thrive in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment, and be excited by the opportunity to help scale operations through standardization and collaboration. This position is pivotal to aligning planning activities with Dogwood's strategic goals and enabling growth through operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and release of work orders in the ERP system to support production requirements
  • Ensure routing templates are accurate and aligned with production practices and capacity constraints
  • Verify that all supporting documentation (e.g., drawings, specifications, BOMs) is correctly released
  • Track and approve routing updates to drive continuous improvement or changes in shop floor processes
  • Partner with the Master Planner Scheduler to provide planning data and insights that support accurate scheduling and load balancing
  • Supervise capacity and schedule validation activities to identify potential production conflicts
  • Identify systemic issues in work order quality or process gaps and lead efforts to resolve them
  • Promote cross-training and skills development within the planning team to ensure continuity and resilience in daily operations
  • Support production teams at both Sedro-Woolley and Everett, ensuring planning activities enable efficient execution across sites
  • Maintain high standards for ERP data accuracy related to routings, production steps, and material usage
  • Supervise day-to-day work of the staff, including coaching, delegation, and performance management
  • Set team priorities, establish expectations, and coordinate cross-departmental handoffs to align with broader operational goals
  • Act as the planning point of contact for escalations, problem-solving, and coordination across functions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, or a related role
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members
  • Proficiency working in an ERP/MRP system
  • Familiarity with production routings, BOMs, and manufacturing workflows
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage transactional data
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow standard work instructions
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Design, Procurement, and Production teams
  • Basic understanding of capacity planning concepts is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and work within structured systems and processes

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
This position requires light physical activity in an office environment. To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly seated at a computer desk with the option to stand, is utilizing a phone frequently and participating in meetings with colleagues. There are steps in the office.

Compensation

$42.00 - $49.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Location

This is an onsite position at the Dogwood Everett Factory at 3200 35th Ave NE, Everett, WA 98201. Travel to Dogwood's Bothell Corporate office or Sedro-Woolley Factory office, as needed.
