Job summary

Olympic Steel Minneapolis Inc is seeking aProduction Scheduler to determine steel usage for jobs and distribute orders to work areas. You will monitor orders, create and implement schedules, and coordinate with sales for high-volume accounts to drive efficiency and on-time delivery.

The role focuses on scheduling, material allocation, and collaboration with maintenance and foreman to optimize plant throughput and meet company goals.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or related experience.
• Able to organize and multitask effectively.
• Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Decides what steel to use for specific jobs and distributes factory orders to individual work areas/machines.
• Monitors incoming orders and incorporates into production schedule.
• Develops and implements production schedules to help achieve company-wide sales/performance goals.
• Distributes production orders to individual work areas/machines.
• Assigns or re-assigns material to orders as necessary.
• Works with sales on managing high-volume accounts and repeating orders.
• Assists in designing plant layouts to achieve maximum efficiency.
• Applies coils and sheets to orders per management strategy.
• Matches orders to suppliers/outside processors based on requirements.
• Coordinates incoming material and completes daily inventory runs.
• Answers questions for inside sales, inventory, and machine operators as needed.
• Writes in-house process orders for shearing and slit coils.
• Assists Foreman or Maintenance Manager in scheduling machine maintenance.

Job Description

• Monitors incoming orders and incorporates into production schedule


• Develops and implements production schedules to help achieve company-wide sales/performance goals


• Distribute productions orders to individual work areas/machines


• Assigns or re-assigns material to orders as necessary


• Works with sales on managing high-volume accounts and repeating orders


• Assists in designing the layout of the plant or layouts of materials in the plant to achieve maximum efficiency


• Applies coils to sales orders according to strategies set by Management; using material reserved for specific customers if available


• Applies sheets, strip mill plates, and plates to orders per strategy set by Management


• Match orders to appropriate suppliers/ outside processors based on requirements


• Assists in coordination of incoming material and sets up and completes inventory runs daily


• Answers questions for inside sales, inventory, and machine operators as needed


• Writes process orders for shearing and slit coils


• Develops and implements production schedules to help achieve company-wide sales/performance goals


• Assists Foreman or Maintenance Manager in scheduling time for maintenance of machines


• Other duties as assigned by management.

Pay Range

$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually
