Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY, is seeking a Production Planning Intern to support manufacturing planning, scheduling, and material provisioning across the production cycle. You will work from engineering plans and production specs to ensure timely delivery and advise management on status of work in progress.

Responsibilities include developing build plans, using MRP to manage schedules and inventory, coordinating with manufacturing and quality teams, and ensuring material availability.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or related field.

• Coordinate with Materials Planners to ensure accurate planning and dock dates.
• Provide status updates and performance metrics to the program team.
• Possibly travel and pursue a US security clearance if required.

Job Description:

As an intern in the production planning role, you will assist in planning, scheduling, and monitoring manufacturing status and approval of products through the entire production cycle to meet production and ultimately customer requirements. You will work from engineering plans and production specifications to ensure timely provision of materials. Additionally, you will advise management on the status of work in progress, coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams, and interface with engineering, program management, and external customers. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the availability of materials and labor to meet production needs and delivery commitments, as well as resolving labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement manufacturing build plans to meet customer contractual delivery schedules
• Utilize Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system to input Master Schedule build plans, track material availability, status kit readiness, release shop orders, and maintain all shop order records and inventory integrity
• Update and maintain make items lead times within MRP system
• Manage floor stock of program components
• Work jointly with Manufacturing and Quality teams to execute build schedule and address any issues in a timely manner
• Work with Materials Planners to proactively manage the schedule and material dock dates to ensure accuracy of planning
• Provide hardware status, updates and performance statistics to program team based on status of hardware through Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
• Some things to include if needed / depending on the role:
• Travel requirements with an estimated % or quantitative amount
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to complete physical tasks
• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance (if not required on day 1)

Qualifications:

• To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or related field or have completed their bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Knowledge and/or experience in scheduling or supply chain planningprefer.
• Strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data
• Proficient in the use Microsoft Office software;working knowledge of relational data bases.

PAY TRANSPARENCY: In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $18.50/hr - $36.50/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
