Job summary

PROENERGY in Houston, TX is seeking a Production Planner to own end-to-end scheduling for assigned scope. You'll track work orders, surface risks, and ensure accurate data so the floor never questions what runs next.

This role requires 2+ years in planning, strong Excel and ERP familiarity, and US work authorization. The position reports to VP Production Planning & CI and is based at 8310 McHard Road.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; higher degree preferred.
  • 2+ years in production planning or manufacturing coordination.
  • Strong Excel and ERP sense; comfortable with BOMs and routings.
  • Organized, detail-driven; strong cross-functional communication.
  • US work authorized; ability to pass drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and track assigned scope end-to-end: monitor work orders through every operation, maintain accurate status, and keep the schedule, visual management boards, and reporting aligned to one truth — working the ERP exception queue daily after go-live, rescheduling and releasing orders within defined rules.
  • Surface and elevate risk early: identify shortages, holds, and capacity conflicts before they break the schedule; drive resolution through the defined escalation process rather than informal expediting.
  • Manage nonconformance and rework flow for the modules, including replanning route and date when a unit is dispositioned, in partnership with quality and engineering
  • Work the planning exception queue daily, rescheduling, expediting, deferring, or cancelling with a documented reason, distinguishing exceptions caused by real events from those caused by bad data, and correcting the data at the source.
  • Own master data quality for assigned scope: validate item masters, bill-of-material lines, and routing steps against physical reality; correct errors at the source, keep lead times and planning parameters current, and flag systemic data issues for correction.
  • Maintain transaction discipline: ensure material issues, completions, and status updates for assigned scope are recorded accurately and on time, so system truth matches floor reality.
  • Own status communication: provide reliable status to operations, supply chain, and program stakeholders — replacing tribal-knowledge status with documented, system-based truth.
  • Support capacity analysis and the ERP implementation: capture actual durations and setup patterns for assigned work centers, execute planner-role test scripts, and help refine standard work for planning transactions.
  • Partner directly with production supervision, engineering, quality, and supply chain, aligning on priority and sequence within the published schedule and serving as the internal reference on the assigned modules.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement: participate in improvement events affecting planning and flow; help standardize and improve planner standard work.

Position Summary

The Production Planner owns end-to-end schedule continuity for an assigned scope— tracking work by project or job and through every operation, surfacing risk early, and keeping priorities, parts, and promise dates aligned so the floor never has to guess what runs next. The planner is the single accountable owner for the health of every work order in that scope: created correctly, released only when it can run, tracked through every operation, cleared of obstacles before they become delays, and closed with accurate data. This is the execution seat and the control point for schedule changes: expedites are approved or declined here, against defined criteria. The role executes disciplined manual planning today while cleansing data, learning the system, and testing workflows to become one of the site’s enterprise ERP power users.
