The Production Planner plays a critical role in ensuring stable, efficient, and execution-ready production operations. Operating within a 90‑day planning horizon, this position is responsible for creating, managing, and releasing production work orders, coordinating material readiness, and partnering across multiple functions to drive schedule adherence and support customer delivery commitments. This role is essential to short-term Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) performance, requiring strong analytical capability, exceptional communication, and a proactive mindset. Success in this role is demonstrated by stable and predictable short-term production execution, high on-time order releases and strong schedule adherence. It also includes minimizing aged work-in-process (WIP), improving material readiness, and proactively mitigating risks to prevent disruptions. Clear communication and coordinated decision-making across operations and planning teams are essential, along with a commitment to continuous improvement that strengthens the planning process and supports overall site performance.

What You Will Do:
  • Daily / Weekly Production Planning & Scheduling: Execute, manage, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to align supply, material availability, and capacity. Release, sequence, and reschedule production orders (including APS detailed scheduling where applicable). Analyze Clear-to-Build status and use it to release, resequence, and prioritize production orders. Evaluate and coordinate production orders to ensure a controlled flow of materials and services. Identify bottlenecks and develop recovery plans for past-due orders across the 1–90-day S&OE horizon.
  • Material Coordination & Readiness: Track and publish material availability for the S&OE horizon to support shortage prioritization. Coordinate with Procurement and Supply Chain to secure timely delivery of materials and convert planned orders to production orders on time. Manage non-standard material flows (e.g., pass-through shipments, outside processing, overload parts).
  • Exception Management & Escalation Process: Troubleshoot SAP/MRP exception messages for internal work orders and STOs. Escalate slips or production impacts that could affect customer delivery commitments. Support inter-site transfer order alignment to meet customer priorities.
  • Metrics, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement: Track and report key performance indicators including schedule adherence, WIP, trapped inventory, and nonconforming material (NCM). Prepare and present operational insights to support leadership decision-making. Support inputs into monthly Supply Review and S&OE forums. Participate in continuous improvement efforts aimed at stabilizing and optimizing production planning processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Operations, Master Scheduling, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Inventory Control, Program Management, and Logistics. Participate in tier meetings and support escalation processes as necessary.
Qualifications

You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. Prior experience in production planning, materials planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
