Job summary
Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, MD is seeking a Production Planner to develop and manage the production schedule, balancing capacity, materials, and program commitments. You will communicate manufacturing status and risk analysis to leadership and IPTs.
You will partner with procurement, quality, engineering and program management to plan and release jobs, manage disruptions, monitor supply chain alignment, and support on-time completion. Knowledge of MRP/ERP tools and CPIM beneficial.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience preferred.
- 1-3 years MRP experience & CPIM certification preferred.
- Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and networking skills.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent partnering and team building skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Prior MRP software experience
- PowerPoint, MS Projects, EMatrix, Oracle ERP Software, PowerBI experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and manage development, production, and aftermarket support with cross-functional teams.
- Execute planner code actions; release jobs and purchase requisitions; manage disruptions; feedback to customers.
- Advise management on WIP status, material availability, and potential production problems.
- Monitor supply chain alignment, identify constraints, maintain line of balance and purchase requests.
- Participate in IPTs by interfacing with internal customers.
- Assist management in plans to maximize on-time completion; analyze supply and demand data for critical path constraints.
- Manage manual demand for top/down & bottom-up releases; coordinate ECN/ECP changes; review excess material; create material transfers and PO change requests.

A Production Planner will develop and manage the execution of the production schedule as a result of line of balance output, taking into consideration the available capacity, material availability and program delivery commitments. A Production Planner communicates to leadership and program managers the manufacturing status, expected completion dates and production risk analysis based on internal and external supply.
- Partners with procurement, production manager, quality, engineering, and program management, and other supply chain disciplines to proactively plan, schedule, and effectively manage development, production, and aftermarket support environments.
- Manages and own the execution of items associated with their planner code, to include release of internal jobs to the factory, release of purchase requisitions, manage disruptions in the internal factory (shortages, MRB, internal and external constraints), and provides feedback to internal customers
- Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
- Monitors internal and external supply chain alignment – identifies and resolves potential constraints, maintains line of balance (build through) and purchase requests for the production or purchase of components / parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
- Plays an integral part of product Integrated Product Teams (IPT) by effectively interfacing with internal customers.
- Assists management in the development and execution of plans for assigned products to maximize scheduled on-time completion. Analyzes supply and demand data and reports to determine critical path constraints
- Manages manual demand for top/down & bottom-up releases, facilitates ECN/ECP changes and coordinates production cut-ins. Reviews excess material for possible consumption in other jobs. Creates material transfers, borrow/payback transactions and PO change requests.
