Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Production Planner for an aerospace and defense manufacturer in Stafford, VA. This on-site role turns customer demand, materials availability, ERP data, and capacity into executable schedules to improve delivery performance.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in production planning with MRP, advanced Excel, ERP systems, and a bachelor’s in engineering. Familiarity with Power BI and Dynamics is preferred; US citizenship or green card is required for clearance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of production planning, MRP, and scheduling experience in an assembly-line operation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel: pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.
• ERP experience with MRP and production scheduling.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (manufacturing/industrial/electrical/mechanical or similar) not IT.
• Strong analytical accuracy, organization, and cross-functional communication.
• Experience in Aerospace/Defense or highly regulated industries is preferred.
• Familiar with Power BI.
• Experience in Microsoft Business Central or Dynamics is highly preferred.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or Active Greencard holder with the ability to obtain clearance after being hired.

Responsibilities

• Own production schedules aligned with customer orders, forecasts, inventory, material readiness, and capacity.
• Prepare dashboards and reports for production planning, capacity, procurement, and inventory decisions.
• Create, release, maintain, and monitor ERP manufacturing work orders and schedule attainment.
• Identify material shortages and coordinate recovery plans with Procurement, Inventory, Production, Engineering, and Quality.
• Maintain BOMs, routings, and planning parameters; monitor consumption, output, and order performance.
• Resolve cross-functional scheduling and production issues while adhering to planning and operational procedures.
