Job summary

Old World Industries, LLC. is seeking a Production Planner to manage long-range inventory planning, daily production scheduling, and shipping coordination at our Centralia facility.

You will collaborate with customer service and on-site teams to meet customer requirements and optimize operations. Responsibilities include developing schedules with third-party sites, managing inventory levels, and driving continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in production planning or related supply chain role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ERP planning systems experience, SAP preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production schedules with third-party sites to meet demand and optimize efficiency.
• Collaborate with centralized planning to align plans with company objectives.
• Implement inventory strategies to balance service levels and cost.
• Monitor inventory days on hand and resolve system errors causing delays.
• Ensure on-time service levels exceed 95% through planning and coordination.

• Maintain cross-functional communication with operations, warehousing, and purchasing.
• Utilize SAP and other ERP systems to ensure accurate production data.

Position Purpose:

Manage all aspects of the working relationship within our production facility, to include long range planning of inventory and production levels, daily scheduling of production and shipping requirements, and expediting activities as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction. Coordinates activities with OWI customer service and location personnel to satisfy all customer requirements.

Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

• Production Planning
  • Develop and maintain production schedules in collaboration with third‑party sites to meet customer demand and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with the centralized planning team to align production plans with overall company objectives.
• Inventory Management
  • Implement and execute inventory strategies to achieve optimal levels, balancing between customer service goals and cost objectives.
  • Monitor and manage inventory days on hand, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Clear and process any system errors generated by production that may cause delays in shipments in a timely manner.
• Customer Service
  • Ensure customer on-time service levels exceed 95% through effective production planning and coordination.
  • Address any customer‑related concerns or inquiries promptly.
  • Communicate with plants and customer service clear and concisely to provide accurate information regarding orders.
• Capacity and Storage Management
  • Optimize production capacity utilization while considering storage constraints.
  • Collaborate with operations to identify and address capacity challenges proactively.
• Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain regular communication with operations, customer support, warehousing, purchasing departments, and on‑site teams to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address scheduling adherence issues and implement root cause corrective actions.
• System Data Management
  • Utilize and maintain ERP planning systems, with a preference for experience in SAP, to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date production data.
  • Implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of data management processes.
• Lean Six Sigma
  • Apply lean six sigma principles to identify opportunities for process improvement within the production planning and inventory management functions.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in production planning or a related role within the supply chain.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite and experience with ERP planning systems, SAP preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
