Job Title: Compounding Pharmacy Technician – First Shift
Reports To: Director of Operations and Pharmacist in Charge
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

About This Role

As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician you will translate a patient’s personalized treatment plan into tangible medication that honors the provider’s intent and the patient’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations, performing all tasks under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Input, verify, and update patient and prescription information accurately in our systems, following company SOPs.
• Assist pharmacists in contacting patients regarding medication information, refill needs, and overall care.
• Interact politely and professionally with patients, practitioners, and internal stakeholders to maintain strong relationships.
• Prepare and compound medications accurately and efficiently according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Maintain and clean compounding equipment and the pharmacy environment to meet regulatory standards.
• Create and print master formulation records, compounding records, and labels under pharmacist supervision.
• Check records or compounded products prepared by others to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain accurate records of compounding activities, inventory transactions, and shipping documents in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all documentation is reviewed and approved by a licensed pharmacist as required by state pharmacy laws.
• Assist with updates, edits, reviews, and additions to procedural documentation to keep it current.
• Assist with managing pharmacy inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and accurate records.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and help resolve discrepancies.
• Receive and process refill requests as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Must meet all legal and regulatory requirements for handling controlled substances, including a background check and drug screening.
• Strong organizational and attention‑to‑detail skills for accurate documentation, inventory management, and timely shipment of compounded medications.
• Excellent multitasking, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities to address potential roadblocks and ensure smooth operations.
• Excellent customer service orientation, with creative thinking and high service standards while supporting fiscal responsibility.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the Shipping and Receiving Department in a pharmacy setting.

Educational & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified pharmacy technician in good standing in the state of Texas.
