Job summary

Altium Packaging is hiring an entry-level Production Packaging Associate for its Tukwila, WA facility. The role involves proper packaging of materials and finished products, loading and moving materials, and operating packaging equipment while following Good Manufacturing Practices.

It requires basic math and computer skills and an emphasis on safety and teamwork. Shifts are 12 hours long (1p-7:30p or 7a-7:30p) with overtime possible.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates safe work practices by wearing PPE and following safety policies.
• Picks up dropped bottles and moves materials on the production floor.
• Inspects bottle quality during production, packaging and labeling.
• Monitors packaging lines and clears bottle jams.
• Ensures correct labeling, bottle description and packaging per customer requirements.
• Moves finished goods to designated areas and maintains organized workstation.
• Works as part of a team and adheres to the work schedule.

Job Overview

The Production Packaging Associate is an entry-level position responsible for proper packaging of materials and finished products. This position also loads, moves material, and operates packaging equipment. The associate will follow Good Manufacturing Practices.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates safe work practices by wearing correct PPE and following safety policies.
• Demonstrates punctuality and adheres to work schedule.
• Demonstrates a teamwork attitude by working well and effectively with others.
• Adheres to company General Manufacturing Policies.
• Keeps the work area neat, clean, and organized.
• Monitors conveyor belts and clears bottle jams from lines.
• Picks up dropped bottles from production floor and places them into designated bins.
• Puts discarded bottles into grinder, if applicable.
• Inspects the quality of bottles during production, packaging, and labeling.
• Performs bottle inspections, such as drop tests for designated lines.
• Immediately escalates all bottle abnormalities, defects and quality issues when found.
• Monitors supply levels of packaging materials and replenishes as needed.
• Ensures correct labeling, bottle description and packaging of product in accordance with specific customer requirements.
• Moves finished goods to designated area.
• Ensures efficient set up and organization of workstations. Maintains inventory levels and restocks supplies as needed to facilitate smooth transitions between shifts.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Duties may differentiate by plant based on equipment and plant design.

Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Qualifications

Education

Prefer High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Training

Completion of Altium Production/Packaging Associate I, training within 90 days of hire date.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to grasp, handle, or feel, reach out, over and below with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and or crawl. The employee frequently is required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment. Noise levels are usually loud. Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.

Targeted Pay Range

$19.42 - $24.81
