Job summary

Champion is seeking a Packaging Production Operator for the 2nd shift at our Auburn, Kentucky facility. The role focuses on operating packaging lines, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in a state-of-the-art pet food production site.

Responsibilities include maintaining clean work areas, inspecting packaging, and assisting with daily inventory. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Equivalent military experience or college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and the Environment policies.
• Maintain a neat and organized work area per company policies and safety regulations.
• Ensure packaging specs and construction are suitable for product and production runs.
• Conduct visual inspection to detect damaged or incorrect packaging and remove it from production.
• Identify food-safety concerns and take appropriate actions.
• Operate lift trucks (sit and stand) as required.
• Assist in daily inventory of bulk and liquid ingredients, record bin checks and counts.
• Operate heavy machinery including tote massagers and grinding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with production staff.
• Participate in annual physical inventory and other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Packaging Production Operator has primary responsibility to operate the equipment safely and efficiently within the Packaging department at the state-of-the-art pet food production facility located in Auburn, Kentucky. This role will report to the Production Supervisor.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Ensure compliance to Company’s policies, practices and procedures related to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and the Environment.
• Maintain a neat and organized work area according to established corporate policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Ensure empty packaging specifications and construction are suitable for applicable product and production runs.
• Conduct visual inspection to control any damaged or incorrect packaging and remove same from production.
• Identify food-safety concerns and perform actions appropriate for resolving them.
• Operate lift trucks (sit and stand), as required.
• Assist in conducting a daily inventory of all bulk and liquid ingredients, recording bin check, regular bulk inventory, and part bag count inventory.
• Operate heavy machinery including tote massagers, grinding equipment for fresh meats and ingredients, and/or automated and manual packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner, according to established Company policies and practices.
• Develop and maintain successful professional working relationships, including good communication practices with relevant production department staff.
• Participate in annual physical inventory as determined by the Company.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This role is for you if you have:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment and/or equivalent military experience, or college degree is preferred.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.
