Job summary

HB Fuller in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Production Operator to run equipment, prep raw materials, and label products while following safety and quality rules. You will report to the Production Manager/Supervisor and help keep processes running at target run rates.

The role requires a basic education, ability to read work orders, and willingness to work a 12-hour night shift. Prior experience with batch materials or industrial settings is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Basic educational degree or high school diploma or GED.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, production process, safety regulations and quality procedures and instructions.
  • Availability to work in shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of raw materials and packaging: identify quantities and transport to production area.
  • Operate processing equipment in line with process instructions and procedures.
  • Monitor equipment and maintain target run rates.
  • Complete initial testing and release of products to ensure specifications.
  • Check labels and packaging material for correct labeling and instructions.
  • Package final products following quality standards.
  • Follow all Quality Standards, SOPs, and EHS rules.
  • Maintain area housekeeping and safety.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Join H.B. Fuller as a Production Operator
  • Location: Grand Rapids, MI
  • Schedule: 12-hr Night Shift (2-2-3 schedule), 6pm-6:30am
  • Pay: $24.50 per hour + $1.00 shift differential

Position Overview

The Production Operator reports to the Production Manager/Supervisor
The job holder has the responsibility to operate the equipment and all of its affiliated processes (preparing raw materials & packaging, unloading, packing & labeling), in compliance with legal and company rules.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Preparation of raw materials and packaging: identifying & preparing the right quantities and transport them to the appropriate production area, reporting any deviation from normal, note start and finish of process
  • Operating processing equipment in line with process instructions and procedures
  • Monitors equipment, keeping processes running at desired run rates.
  • Complete the initial testing and release of products in order to ensure that there are no deviations to specifications
  • Check labels & packaging material, ensure correct labeling following the existing rules and instructions
  • Packaging the final products in accordance with instructions and HBF quality standards
  • Carry out all operations in compliance with the expected Quality Standards and Operating procedures of HBF and Respecting all legal and company EHS-rules.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in his area responsibility
  • Carry out any other duties requested from the Production Manager/Supervisor
Minimum Requirements
  • Basic educational degree or high school diploma or general education diploma
  • Knowledge of common software programs (MS office)
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, production process, safety regulations and quality procedures and instructions.
  • Availability to work in shifts
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with mixing, reading batch tickets, and working with raw materials.
  • Understanding of basic English
  • 1 year experience in industrial environment
Physical Environment
  • Required to stand for long periods of time
  • Walk and climb stairs
  • Use hands to remove or lift boxes
  • Stretch and reach with arms extended
  • Stoop and bend
  • Regularly lift up to 55 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Temperature, dust, smell and noise are under normal chemical environment conditions

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $24.50 per hour + $1.00 Shift Differential.
