Job summary

Indium Corporation in Utica, NY is seeking a Production Operator II to perform manual duties and operate equipment to mix, form, and assemble metals and chemicals for distribution to customers. This role requires minimal supervision and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–11:30 PM. Wage ranges from $16.75 to $23.75 per hour, with an annual equivalent around $34k–$49.5k, plus health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2 years of verifiable work experience may be substitutable.
• Competent in at least two qualifying operations.
• Good oral and written communication; English proficiency preferred.
• Basic math skills and computer literacy.
• Reliable transportation to Indium Corporation sites

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Production Operator II is responsible for performing manual duties to process and complete products by operating equipment to mix, form, and assemble metals and chemicals for distribution to Indium Corporation customers. Work is performed with little direction and with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES)

• Observe all safety and security requirements
• Operate machines and other equipment for product processing, which may include assembly, chemical additions, extrusion, and packaging functions
• May work with a variety of metals to create casts, and may also work with a variety of chemicals to fabricate final products
• Follow written procedures and work instructions
• Complete any required documentation to track work, record scrap, and maintain the accuracy of completed parts and required inventory
• Perform a variety of supply functions to stage, load, and remove materials no longer needed at the production station or to set up for future production
• Uphold the standards necessary to maintain our business certifications and to maintain good quality standards and practices associated with them
• Sustain a steady work pace and follow a schedule; recognize and alert more senior operators/supervisors to the need for schedule adjustments
• Identify and perform rework
• May guide other employees
• Produce quality product with minimal scrap
• Read and interpret drawings and diagrams with assistance from the supervisor and instruct others on the same
• Attend training as needed or assigned
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years of verifiable work experience may be considered in lieu of education, or successful 6 months or less in the Production Operator Trainee role
• Deemed competent in at least two qualifying operations
• Specialized knowledge and the demonstrated ability to train others may be considered in lieu of length of work experience
• Good oral and written communication skills; English proficiency desired
• Basic math skills and computer literacy
• Basic organizational skills
• Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

($34,000 - $49,500 annually)
