Job summary

The Wellness Pet Company in Decatur, AR is hiring a Meat Room Technician for 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM). You will add raw meat slurry ingredients according to recipes, operate hopper and forklift, and support production goals in a clean, GMP-compliant facility.

The role requires good reading and writing in English, basic math, and mechanical aptitude. You will work with sanitation SOPs, perform routine equipment setup, and help maintain product quality and safety across the shift.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift.
• Work environment includes odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools.
• Familiarity with process operating procedures and SOPs.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Meat Room Technician is responsible for adding the correct raw meat slurry ingredients based on recipe requirements and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and GMPs. Operate hopper and forklift to dispense ingredients for product production. Meat Room Technicians regularly work 40 hours per week with overtime as business needs require.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Set-up, operate and disassemble meat room equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and GMPs.
• Dump appropriate meat slurry into hopper to ensure continuous runtime of production.
• Responsible for setting up and starting up meat room equipment according to the production schedule.
• Disassemble and clean meat room equipment according to Sanitation SOPs.
• Maintain meat room cleanliness throughout work shift.
• Promptly report issues with product and/or equipment to supervisor.
• Troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Review and follow production schedule throughout shift.
• Verify product quality and ensure product is running according to job specifications.
• Monitor equipment and perform basic maintenance as required.
• Operate forklift to store and stage meat slurry according to production needs.
• All other duties as assigned.

Workplace Safety

• Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
• Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries

Quality & Food Safety

• Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
• Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
• Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Position Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and communicate using the English language.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in an environment which includes frequent exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• Must be familiar with use of hand tools.
• Good verbal and mathematical capability at a high school level.
• Ability to read and understand process operating procedures.
• Familiarity with computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a forklift and setting up production machines.
• Prior experience in a production environment, preferably food or beverage manufacturing.
