Job summary

Airgas in Spokane, WA is seeking a Production Operator I for the night shift (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.). You will load/unload cylinders, move inventory, and operate forklifts to support daily production.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload cylinders from inbound/outbound vehicles and move cylinders as directed.
  • Adhere to safety policies and use PPE.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and teammates.
  • Stage cylinders for filling in designated areas to minimize handling.
  • Load/unload fleet vehicles daily and spot trucks/trailers on property.
  • Transfer cylinders to/from ground storage as needed.
  • Report cylinder shortages and discrepancies to leadership.
  • Operate forklift and other equipment to support material flow.
  • Maintain and request upkeep of equipment; keep work area clean.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities
  • The production operator contributes to loading and unloading cylinders from inbound and outbound vehicles including company owned and common carriers. Assists with movement of all cylinders as directed by the team and leadership.
  • Contributes to adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you build alignment and positive relationships with vendors, co-workers, and leadership.
  • Stages cylinders in designated areas of the production plant for filling. These areas will be designated by production personnel and shall be areas that ensure the least amount of handling.
  • Loads and unloads our fleet of company vehicles daily.
  • Spot trucks and trailers within a designated area on company property.
  • Transfers cylinders to and from ground storage as needed.
  • Assists production personnel in removing full cylinders from the fill area.
  • Reports all cylinder shortages to leadership.
  • Inspects all cylinders for general condition, reports all discrepancies to leadership.
  • Operates a forklift and other equipment as needed to support material flow.
  • Maintains equipment and communicates requests to Plant Manager in writing.
  • Contributes to cleaning and maintaining the assigned area.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a core part of our team's success in this position.

Required Qualifications

  • May be exposed to noise or vibrations, hazards, potential explosives, burns electrical or other fumes, mist, dust, odors or gas. Will be around moving machinery and equipment on uneven ground with varying conditions and layouts.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees.
  • Ability to perform very heavy work, routinely lift, push, pull, carry 50+ pounds and occasionally lift76 to greater than 100 pounds. May occasionally stoop, bend, couch, crawl, twist, kneel or squat up to 33% of the day.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be able to operate forklift in a safe manner and maintain appropriate forklift certifications.

The hourly base pay range for this position in Washington is $21.50/hr. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
