Job summary

Locus Fermentation Solutions in Solon, OH, is seeking a Production Operator I to perform fermentation production operations. The role requires handling reactors, inoculation, and parameter setup in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Responsibilities include operating PLCs, sampling for QC, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, and maintaining cleanliness in the warehouse. Candidates should have a high school diploma and basic fermentation/microbiology knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge or experience in fermentation, or microbiology preferred.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance preferred.
• Strong communication skills; both verbal and written.
• Ability to identify problems and execute standard procedures.
• Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook efficiently.

• Operate PLC to gather data and set temperature, pH, and other parameters.
• Prepare scheduled samples for testing and analysis by quality control.

• Maintain warehouse area and ensure high level of cleanliness and organization of materials.
• Perform routine maintenance on reactors, tanks, pumps, and other production equipment.
• Wear required PPE while carrying out position responsibilities.
• Follow SOP’s and protocols to maintain product quality.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

What you’ll be doing:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to move through the warehouse 60% of the time and remain in a stationary position 40% of the time.

• May require occasional lifting or carrying of materials or equipment weighing up to 50pounds.
  • Employee will occasionally use computer, phone, copier and other office equipment in the course of a day.
  • The employee is required to consistently position self as appropriate to maintain equipment in the warehouse and progress production cycles.
• Work is performed in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment.
• Environments may include exposure to loud machinery, heavy equipment, and operational hazards.
• Must be adaptable to a dynamic environment with competing priorities and high-level business engagement.
