Description
The foam gluing laborer uses a glue spray gun to glue various foam components to their wood counterparts to create the core of each furniture piece. The completed components are then placed in a staging area to be picked by the upholsterers. The foam gluing laborer supports the upholsterers.
Key Responsibilities
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
- Follows all pre-established installation and quality methods, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of work
- Reads order-specific job travelers and/or engineered drawings to ensure each order is produced to specifications
- Uses various hand tools and glue gun to glue foam components to furniture core pieces
- Completes all job duties within given time constraints
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Cross-trains between several different jobs
- Cleans and maintains work area
- Pursues continuous improvement to improve efficiency of job duties and work flow
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Attention to detail
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Needs good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defects
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multifunctional team oriented work environment
- Ability to work variable hours with short notice (up to 50+ hrs. per week)
Physical Requirements And Environment
- Must be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance
- Involves standing, bending and lifting for long periods as required
- Requires repetitive movement
- Includes exposure to noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortable
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment
