Job summary

Post Consumer Brands in Troy, AL is seeking a Production Operator to join our 2nd shift on-site team. You will operate high-speed packaging lines to fill, cap, label, and prepare peanut butter products for shipment, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the line.

You will document production data, support changeovers, perform routine line maintenance, and help sustain SQF and food-safety standards while collaborating with a hands-on team.

Location Description

The Troy, Alabama plant produces peanut butter, with annual production of approximately 78 million pounds. The site supports a team of more than 130 manufacturing and support employees.

Responsibilities

Production Operator

Troy, Alabama | Regular full‑time | On‑site | 2nd Shift

As a Production Operator at our Troy plant, you will operate high‑speed automated equipment used to fill, cap, label, and prepare peanut butter products for shipment. You will help keep the lines running safely and accurately while protecting product quality, food safety, and the appearance of every finished package.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable learning equipment, completing changeovers, and responding to routine operating issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate packaging equipment according to product specifications and make adjustments as needed.
  • Verify the correct packaging materials and date codes before and during production.
  • Monitor fillers, cappers, labelers, case sealers, packaging quality, and case printing.
  • Complete required production and machine documentation accurately, including downtime logs and work order requests.
  • Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, equipment changeovers, and regular deep cleaning after product changes.
  • Identify and report mechanical and nonmechanical issues to the shift supervisor or lead.
  • Maintain a clean work area and follow health, safety, fire prevention, quality, and food safety requirements.
  • Support established programs and ongoing improvement of SQF systems to help produce safe, quality food.
  • Complete other assigned duties that support safe and efficient plant operations.

Location & Travel Requirements

  • Current openings support second shift 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Work eight‑hour shifts, with overtime, weekends, and holidays required as business needs demand.
  • Travel requirement: up to 10%.
Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution required.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to follow product specifications, safety practices, quality requirements, and food safety procedures.
  • Ability to complete accurate production records, machine logs, and work order requests.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing or packaging experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using tools or completing minor equipment repairs preferred.
