Job summary

Nucor Corporation's Newton, IA facility is seeking a skilled worker to bend, cut, bundle, and load reinforcing steel bars according to customer orders. You will operate Fabmatic, shearing, bending machines, a power saw, and an overhead crane while complying with safety standards.

The role offers a $20/hr base pay plus weekly production bonuses and an annual profit-sharing bonus, along with comprehensive benefits. Overtime and all shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must have a high school diploma, GED or local/state equivalent.
• Must have basic math skills to be able to calculate bar measurements.
• This is a safety sensitive position with potential overtime and all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars according to customer orders.
• Operate Fabmatic, shearing, bending machines, power saw and overhead crane.
• Unload trailers and store material; assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and assist others as needed.

Purpose:

Compensation: $20/hr plus weekly production bonus and yearly profit-sharing bonus.

Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer's orders.

Basic Job Functions:

• Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
• Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.
• Other tasks as required by Supervisor.
