Job summary

FilTec, Inc. is seeking a production team member for a 12-hour night shift at the Cavetown, MD facility. The role involves operating and maintaining multiple machines, performing quality checks, and documenting production metrics.

SUMMARY

Production team member to work in a process production environment operating and maintaining multiple machines at one time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Start up machines, repair thread breaks as necessary, put scrap in box.
  • Put empty cores in core feeder.
  • Fill service container with alcohol solution.
  • Mix alcohol solution in dissolving tank.
  • Inspect bobbins to ensure no long tails are packed out; trim long tails if found.
  • Perform quality check using calipers. Check width and OD of sample bobbins. Record results.
  • Make corrections to bobbin dimensions as needed.
  • Seal full boxes of bobbins. Place full boxes in case. When the case is full, seal case and set aside to go to warehouse.
  • Put labels on individual boxes and cases.
  • Using printers, print case and box labels.
  • Clean thread from machines.
  • Sweep and vacuum the floor.
  • Get spools of in- process material from inventory.
  • Replace empty spools of in-process material with full spools as needed, tie in new package, restart machine.
  • Remove empty spools of in-process material.
  • Cut waste remaining from empty spools. Place yarn in waste container. Put empty spool on storage pallet.
  • Perform friction quality tests on friction meter.
  • Weigh scrap at the end of shift. Record weight.
  • Put full case of bobbins on production pallet. Record on production report.
  • Do end of shift paperwork. Record production and scrap by machine. Calculate percentages.
  • At the end of shift discuss bobbin winders and priorities with next shift of team members.
  • Attend meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of high school education. Some college or vocational training preferred but not necessary.

Individual must have some experience with computers, data entry capability.

Mechanical experience preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must be able to work in a group and be able to communicate effectively with a cross section of people.

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
