Job summary

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) is seeking motivated production teammates to operate fabrication equipment, load and unload stock, and maintain a clean, safe work area at our Knoxville facilities. You’ll join a team that keeps the world moving by producing reinforced steel products supporting construction projects.

This role requires dependable attendance, physical stamina, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Training is provided; overtime may be required; safety is our priority.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions.
  • Able and willing to cross train as required.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies and regulations.
  • Strong work ethic and safe working habits.
  • Team player in fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate fabrication machines safely with or without supervision.
  • Overtime availability as business requires.
  • Read and understand technical documents and service manuals.
  • Reasonable physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

  • Attend training regarding applicable equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
  • Assist in loading fabricated rebar on trailers and unloading stock material from trailers.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition.
  • Operate production machines per established procedures.
  • Support CMC safety programs and uphold safety culture.

What You'll Do
  • Attend training regarding applicable equipment

  • Assist in loading fabricated rebar on trailers and unloading stock material from trailers
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Operate production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
  • Operate rebar fabrication equipment, such as shears, benders, cranes, forklift, threaders, forging, welders, etc.
What You'll Need
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Able and willing to cross train as required
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations
  • Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, pay attention to detail and find root causes for issues
  • Ability to operate fabrication machines in a safe manner without supervision
  • Able to work overtime as business requires
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions when needed
  • Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals
  • Possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the industrial field
  • Excellent communication skills, in both written and verbal form are necessary to be successful in this role
  • Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
  • Must possess work ethic and ability to be punctual
  • Stand for long periods of time
Your Education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
