Job summary

PHOENIX is seeking a production operator to run lining and molding auxiliary equipment, perform color and material changes, and support the Extrusion Department. The role is safety-sensitive and requires adherence to GMP and safety rules while documenting all machine activities.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, startup/shutdown entry in DelmiaWorks, and maintaining quality through frequent inspections.

• Perform order, color and material changes and machine start-ups/shut-downs.
• Provide support to Extrusion Department as assigned.
• Identify issues, troubleshoot machines to produce quality parts safely.
• Enter startup/shutdown into DelmiaWorks system.
• Record downtime codes in ERP for tracking.
• Verify raw materials meet work requirements.
• Sample and visually inspect production every 30 minutes; log results.
• Perform color changes and inform supervisor of status.
• Notify supervisor/lead of substandard production quality.
• Check material quality and request more if needed.
• Ensure machine sensors, cap-guides, and conveyors operate properly.
• Report machine problems and submit maintenance requests.
• Relieve and back-up other shift operators and mold techs as needed.
• Follow GMP guidelines and safety rules.
• Complete necessary documentation for all machines; follow Work Orders.
• Reintroduce rejected parts after inspection if acceptable.
• Setup and operate Extrusion slitter; load/reprocess equipment.
• Assist with packaging and roll changes in Extrusion.
• Any other duties assigned by supervision/management.

• To operate lining, molding auxiliary equipment assigned by rotation schedule or supervisor. To properly perform order, color and material changes and machine start-ups/shut-downs. To provide support to Extrusion Department as assigned. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

Essential Functions

• Identifies issues, troubleshoots machines to produce quality parts, safely.
• Performs order changes: enters startup and shutdown into DelmiaWorks system.
• Enters all downtime reason codes into ERP for tracking.
• Verifies raw materials comply with work requirements.
• Samples and visually inspects production every thirty minutes, records quality accordingly and puts product on hold by entering process correction.
• Performs color changes; notifies supervisor of color change status.
• Informs supervisor/lead of substandard production quality.
• Checks material quality and calls for more materials if necessary.
• Checks that all machine sensors, cap-guides and adjustable conveyors are operating properly.
• Informs supervisor/lead of machine problems and fills out maintenance work requests (MRO).
• Informs Supervisor/Lead if machines are not capable of running at standard.
• Cleans machines and work areas of material, caps, oil, etc., clean filers, scheduled sanitation duties.
• Fills and empties color and virgin hoppers.
• Segregates inspects and sort scrap material.
• Relieves Production Operators, Mold Techs during breaks.
• Backup Production Operators and Mold Techs for other shifts; Covers for absences/vacations on other shifts on a volunteer basis.
• Follows all GMP guidelines.
• Adheres to all safety rules and procedures.
• Completes all necessary documentation for all assigned machines. Follow manufacturing Work Order (BOM).
• Reintroduces rejected parts after physical inspection, if parts are good.
• Setup and operation of Extrusion slitter.
• Load and monitor reprocessing equipment and grinder in Extrusion.
• Assist with packaging of finished goods in Extrusion.
• Assist with roll changes in Extrusion.
• Any other duties as assigned by Supervision/Management.

Other Responsibilities

• Attends Green Area Meetings;
• Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures;
• Responsible for following all Safety Rules, policies, procedures and work instructions;
• Sorts through and visually inspects rejected cartons;
• Backup: Off Shift Production operator, Mold Technician, Extrusion Tech
• Finishes appropriate Track Pro / Paulson training for position

Requirements

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; good verbal and written communication skills.
