Job summary

Lear Corporation in Grand Rapids, MI, is hiring a Production Operator for placement at the Plainfield Plant. The role focuses on manufacturing quality products safely, assembling parts, and supporting continuous production with manual and automated processes.

The position requires setting up and operating machines, loading and unloading, and assisting with material handling. Shifts include 1st and 2nd with breaks; OT may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to frequently lift up to 45 lbs.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach or twist.
• Ability to frequently lift, transfer at waist height 30lbs.
• Ability to stand and/or walk long periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines.
• Load/unload machine (may be assisted by automation or ergo aids).
• Relief of fellow operators.
• Operate manual material handling equipment to stock production areas with raw material or purchased parts.
• Move wheeled carts, racks, bins containing work in progress to adjacent production areas.
• Clean surrounding work areas.

PRODUCTION OPERATOR
GRAND RAPIDS, MI– PLAINFIELD PLANT

Summary

The primary role of the Production Operator is to manufacture quality products in a safe manner.

Responsible for assembling and/or fitting parts together to form complete units or subassemblies at a bench or a conveyor line. May include operations requiring the use of simple hand tools and/or power or special assembly tools.

The Role

• Set up and operate machines
• Load/unload machine (may be assisted by automation or ergo aids).
• Relief of fellow operators
• Operate manual material handling equipment to re-stock production areas with raw material or purchased parts.
• Move wheeled carts, racks, bins containing work in progress to adjacent production areas
• Cleaning surrounding work areas

Required Skills

• Ability to frequently lift up to 45 lbs.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach or twist.
• Ability to frequently lift, transfer at waist height 30lbs
• Ability to stand and/or walk long periods of time.
• Must pass a drug and alcohol screen

Shifts

• 1st shift: 5:30am-4pm
• 2nd shift: 4pm-2:30am
• Both shifts have a 30 minute unpaid lunch and two 15 minute paid breaks
• OT as required
