Job description

Driven by integrity and united by the people-and-pet bond, we find strong purpose in the work we do and an even greater joy in those we get to work alongside. Together, we harness the expertise of our long-standing tradition of excellence to embrace possibility and continuously push to do what's never been done before in pet care. Discover your purpose and fuel your passions when you bring your love of pets to a team that prides itself on the power of togetherness—We are Proudly Connected. Purely Driven.

Position Summary

Since the doors opened in 1972, this factory has grown dramatically into a sustainable state-of-the-art facility. In 2013, we completed our largest solar project yet by installing a 450-kilowatt photovoltaic system of nearly 1,900 panels. The amount of energy produced annually by this solar array could power nearly 52 average-sized homes, or approximately 5,000 lights bulbs for an entire year. With sustainability and safety always top of mind, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Fit & Trim®, Friskies®, Nestlé Purina ONE® and Pro Plan®. This plant location is just along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta – an area that nearly 5 million residents and over 340 of our associates can call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast and, if this beautiful city were a country, it would be the 28th largest economy in the world.

Manufacturing is the very core of our business. The Production Operators within our factories have their hands in it all. You’ll train in several functional areas within the manufacturing environment so you can effectively provide support to our production teams. Since safety is a top priority at Purina, much of your responsibility will focus on ensuring that our equipment and machinery remain in top-notch condition. Your ability to acclimate and problem solve quickly will be critically important as unforeseen equipment issues may arise throughout the normal operation day. You’ll have the opportunity to see our operations through the different shifts, working with experts in each of the different areas within manufacturing.

You will enjoy competitive weekly pay starting at$29.65 an hour during the new hire period (60 days), increasing to$31.58 with an opportunity to make$36.06after 90 days.

*Must be open to working all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3)

*Must be willing to work Monday-Friday along with Saturdays and Sundays based on operational demands

  • Must always work safely by following safety policies and procedures. Must attend safety team and plant-wide meetings, safety and functional training, and perform regular observations.
  • Operation of Production equipment.
  • Sample ingredients and/or in process product.
  • Communicate with other operators, truckers, Team Leaders, and Quality Assurance and Food Safety personnel.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
