Job description

Position Summary

Overseen by the department’s supervisor and lead, operators/production staff are expected to maintain the efficiency, quality, professional culture, and safety of their designated areas. They are a member of the production team, that conducts direct production of parts as required. The operator will receive training from leads to build familiarity of machines, operations, ensure they know how to fill out paperwork, and check quality measures. Operators are key members of production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Fully participate in and support the Metalfab Manufacturing, Inc. Quality System
  • Operates machines at designated processes and manufacture product per control plan requirements
  • Work in a safe manner and practice good housekeeping routines at all times
  • Responsible for following all safety rules and regulations
  • Responsible for following all company policies as outlined in the Company Policies
  • Responsible for following all rules and regulations as documented and communicated
  • Responsible for inspection of product and product conformance during manufacturing and legible records of inspection for product
  • Communicates with the Management concerning nonconforming products
  • Authority from the Executive Management Team to “Stop Production” for any nonconforming product or to stop potential escapes of nonconforming product to customers
Possible Alternate Responsibilities
Truck Driving
  • Load and unload trucks as required
  • Follow all MDOT requirements, rules and regulations, and report any issues to the Materials Manager
  • Responsible for delivering and picking up products/materials
  • Must have a signed copy of Metalfab’s Drivers policy on file
  • Must be able to pass a driving background check to be added to Metalfab’s insurance policy

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
Skills & Competencies
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of shipping & receiving experience
  • Quality system experience
  • Knowledge of quality system used in manufacturing
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • Ability to walk, sit, or stand up to 9 hours per day
  • Ability to conduct continuous/repetitive motions for up to 9 hours per day
Work Environment
  • Indoors
  • Shop/manufacturing environment
  • Positioned around automated machines
