Job summary

ELI LILLY AND COMPANY is seeking a Machine Learning & Data Operations Engineer to accelerate drug discovery by building ML tools and scalable data pipelines. You will move models from research to production, run inference at scale, and ensure data quality and governance across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Collaborate with Lilly Research Labs, AI/ML, Software Engineering, Data Science, and IT Operations to deliver reliable ML solutions that support researchers in their day-to-day work.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field.
• 1 Hands-on software engineering and architecture experience.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, or C++ and Python/JavaScript.
• Experience deploying to containers and Kubernetes, plus CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience deploying and serving machine learning models in production.
• Experience building data pipelines and working with relational and non-relational stores.
• Solid understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs.
• Experience applying systems-engineering concepts to distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Move trained models from research to production across development, staging, and production environments and cloud targets.
• Build scalable inference services and APIs with low latency and high throughput.
• Design and maintain model-serving infrastructure using containers and Kubernetes with autoscaling and canary rollouts.
• Integrate models into researcher-facing tools and enterprise systems for seamless data flow.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and storage across cloud and on‑prem or hybrid infra.
• Implement data-readiness, quality-monitoring workflows and monitor data/model health with alerts.
