Job summary

Omega Engineering Inc in Swedesboro, NJ is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep production equipment in top condition, troubleshoot pneumatic and electromechanical systems, and perform scheduled preventive maintenance.

You will use Express Maintenance software to schedule work, manage spare parts, and coordinate tool changes and machine setups; a HS diploma and mechanical training are preferred, bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of injection molding machines a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring.
  • Good communication skills and ability to understand verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and work over equipment for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and electromechanical assembly machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance using Express Maintenance program (Equipment Maintenance Management Software).
  • Develop preventative maintenance schedules and manage work orders.
  • Perform machine changeovers and setups (tooling, feeders, dies).
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and advise repair needs.
  • Set up and operate machines and transport parts between areas.

Job description

Objective:

Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. To maintain equipment in a good working condition as not to interrupt meeting daily production requirements and confer with department supervisors and Group Leaders to determine progress of work and completion dates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and electromechanical automated assembly machines to include:
    • Adjustment and repair of pneumatic valves and air actuators.
    • Check and troubleshoot electrical circuits.
    • Adjust and program vision systems.
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical sensors
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment using "Express Maintenance" program (Equipment Maintenance Management Software) to include:
    • Cleaning of equipment
    • Lubricating mechanical parts
    • Changing air or lube filters
    • Maintain welding electrodes
    • Replace punches and dies
    • Replace misc. parts such as batteries, springs, screws, wear items etc.
  • Utilize "Express Maintenance" program to schedule work orders, report repairs and manage spare part and record maintenance.
    • Develop preventative maintenance schedules
    • Receive and perform scheduled maintenance
    • Generate work orders
    • Inventory and requisition spare parts and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished
  • Perform machine change overs and setups to include:
    • Changing tooling such as grippers, nests and punch and dies.
    • Change out feeder bowls and parts feeders.
    • Change programming setup
    • Perform test run to achieve first good part.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
  • Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
  • Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, gases and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, forklifts, hoists, or dollies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of injection molding machines a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring.
  • Good communication skills and ability to understand verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and work over equipment for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work and handle very small parts (.003 diameter)
  • Must be a good team player and have ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work with hand tools and possibly run semi-automated machines.
  • Ability to learn and understand dimensions on drawings.
  • Must have a basic understanding of computer and be able to demonstrate ability to learn.
  • Ability to lift to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to determine / recognize color coding.
  • Ability to remember maintenance and production procedure / processes performed in the past.
  • Able to train others in processes.
