Job summary

Stimpson is seeking a Set-up and Repair technician to prepare dies and troubleshoot production runs, ensuring dies are clean, within tolerance, and ready for production.

The role requires reading blueprints, operating presses, and communicating across departments to maintain consistent output and quality. Candidates should be capable of minor procedure development and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare jobs on press according to work order specifications.
• Assist in modification and creation of standardized work procedures.
• Operate and set up production machinery and ancillary equipment.
• Verify metal type and thickness for materials.
• Follow start-up and shutdown procedures for machines.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and parts as needed.
• Measure parts with micrometers/calipers to ensure tolerances.
• Inspect work pieces for defects and communicate results to QC.
• Train operators and set-up/repair staff as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and perform miscellaneous duties.

Summary/Objective

The Set-up and Repair position is responsible for preparing and troubleshooting dies in order to run production, which meets customer requirements. They are expected to maintain and care for the dies so that they are in proper clean and working condition.

Essential Functions

• Prepare jobs on press according to work order specifications.
• Assist in modification and creation of standardized work procedures.
• Utilize and understand all applicable subcomponents of the production order.
• Responsible for machine set up including ancillary equipment as related to the materials needed; verify type of metal and thickness.
• Follow and document process parameters to ensure repeatable results; ensure proper start up and shut down procedures for machines.
• Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
• Use troubleshooting skills to improve and develop repeatable machine processes.
• Check parts for proper tolerances, surface blemishes, dimensions, etc. and make adjustments to compensate for irregularities
• Inspect work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation, using micrometers, calipers, or other measuring instruments. Send production job to be inspected by Quality Control.
• Responsible for clear and consistent communication between departments
• Responsible for the continuous operation of production equipment.
• May aid in the training of employees in the positions of operator and set-up & repair
• Operates all machinery and equipment in a safe manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
