Job summary

Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. in Illinois is seeking a Plant Production Supervisor to oversee resin and milling operations, ensuring safety, quality, cost and schedule. You will manage budgets, supervise staff, and drive continuous improvement across shifts.

The role partners with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to optimize throughput, enforce SOPs, and implement cost controls. A BS in Chemistry or Engineering and 5+ years supervisory manufacturing experience are required;

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Experience with EPA and OSHA regulations including PSM.
  • Experience with reactive chemistry and control systems.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on data analysis.
  • Experience with VPC.
  • Excellent analytical and independent working skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety compliance across the department and promote a safe environment.
  • Work with First-Line Leaders to address daily production issues and resources.
  • Set production and quality standards, develop budgets and cost controls.
  • Participate in safety meetings and ensure adherence to policies and SOPs.
  • Plan and monitor production activities and priorities.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Maintenance, and Quality Control to optimize resources.
  • Review production, quality, maintenance and operations reports for root causes.
  • Provide training and support departmental development programs.
  • Develop and maintain operating methods to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Adjust schedules in response to equipment failures or staffing constraints.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on equipment improvements for safety and reliability.
  • Administer performance appraisals timely and professionally.
  • Maintain and retrieve production data to support decisions and continuous improvement.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing Resin Plant and Milling Plant production related to the manufacturing of resin and dispersion products. They must ensure that all processes & materials meet the requirements for safety, quality, cost and schedule. These responsibilities include managing the cost center budgets, supervising personnel directly and indirectly, setting goals consistent with the overall business plan and reporting progress, and managing some of the day-to-day activities in the plant.


Position Responsibilities


  • Responsible for ensuring safety compliance throughout the department and promoting a safe working environment across all shifts.

  • Works closely with First-Line Leaders to address daily production issues, establish priorities, implement policies and procedures, provide coaching, and secure the necessary resources to ensure timely production and delivery of finished goods across all shifts.

  • Partners with management to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain information regarding product types, quantities, specifications, and required delivery dates.

  • Participates in Supervisor Safety Meetings and conducts employee safety and communication meetings as required. Ensures all Team Members and Supervisors adhere to NPAA safety policies, work rules, SOPs, and Process Control Tables.

  • Plans, directs, and monitors production activities while establishing production priorities consistent with operational requirements, customer demands, quality standards, and cost objectives.

  • Coordinates production activities with Procurement, Maintenance, and Quality Control to optimize the utilization of employees, machinery, equipment, and other resources.

  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality, maintenance, and operational reports to identify root causes of product nonconformities, operating issues, and production problems.

  • Provides and/or coordinates training for Team Members and supports the continuous development and effectiveness of the departmental training program.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operational issues, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.

  • Adjusts production schedules and priorities in response to equipment failures, staffing challenges, material availability, quality concerns, or other operational issues.

  • Collaborates with Engineering personnel regarding the modification or improvement of machinery and equipment to enhance production efficiency, safety, reliability, and product quality.

  • Administers performance appraisals in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.

  • Compiles, maintains, stores, and retrieves production and operational data to support decision-making, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
