Job summary

American Plastics, LLC in Jefferson City, MO is seeking a Production Manager to lead a team of production supervisors and staff in a fast-paced facility focused on injection molding. The role emphasizes a zero-injury culture, continuous improvement, and on-the-floor leadership.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in injection molding, 5+ years in production management, and experience with Lean/Six Sigma and ERP (AS/400).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years related experience; Plastic Injection knowledge is a MUST.
• Hybrid Candidate – Willing to roll up sleeves and be on the floor as well as office management.
• Production Management Experience – 5 years minimum.
• Not a desk job – On the floor with a can-do mindset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with PC software (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to learn ERP systems (AS400 preferred).
• Minimum travel required.

Responsibilities

• Implement Lean Manufacturing Standards and Improvement Opportunities.
• Continuous Improvement and scrap analysis to reduce waste.
• Ensure PPE compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
• Perform mold changes and new mold startups.
• Meet or exceed standard production efficiencies on all lines.
• Schedule weekly production and tooling changeovers.
• Lead and develop process technicians, supervisors, and mold setters.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process problems.
• Assign work and manage workflow across shifts.
• Maintain 6S standards to ensure a safe, clean workplace.
• Coordinate with other departments for safety and inclusivity.
• Daily scheduling of all manufacturing equipment and capacities.
• Align policies with facility and corporate goals.
• Perform other duties as required.
