Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. seeks a Store Operations Supervisor to oversee daily donation and production activities, ensuring budget targets and safety standards are met. You will lead the backroom team, optimize workflow from donation to sales, and uphold quality controls across apparel and merchandise.

Responsibilities include managing production output, training staff, coordinating with logistics, and assisting the Store Manager to meet or exceed sales goals in a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily donation and production operation to meet budget and standards.
  • Lead backroom production team to move donations from donation door to sales floor efficiently.
  • Convert donations into revenue while maintaining a safe, clean, organized environment.
  • Supervise production staff to achieve daily goals (minimum 110 garments per hour, 90% quality).
  • Ensure backroom workflow is optimized for production.
  • Monitor waste and ensure sellable merchandise is not discarded.
  • Conduct quality checks before items are placed on sales floor.
  • Perform textile rack checks for correct piece counts.
  • Monitor supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Communicate daily needs with transportation and district managers.
  • Maintain safe conditions in backroom areas and ensure proper scheduling.
  • Assist Store Manager in achieving/exceeding sales goals and contingency planning.
  • Coach and develop production employees; document coaching and training.
  • Ensure adequate materials and cross-functional coordination for production goals.
  • Perform duties of production staff including donation receiving, sorting, hanging, pricing, cleaning.
  • Keep store clean and hazard-free; perform housekeeping tasks as needed.

Job description

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities:


To oversee and drive the daily donation and production operation of the store to meet or exceed budget while in compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures. Leads the backroom production team to ensure donations flow from the donation door to the sales floor in an expedient manner. Responsible for converting donations into revenue while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized working environment.



  • To effectively supervise production employees so that daily production goals are met (minimum 110 garments per hour with a minimum quality standard of 90%).

  • To ensure the backroom workflow is set up and maintained to maximize production.

  • To ensure donations are processed in such a way to maximize sales and minimize waste.

  • To monitor waste output and ensure sellable merchandise is not discarded.

  • To conduct quality checks on merchandise before it is placed on the sales floor.

  • To conduct textile rack checks to ensure accuracy of piece count reported.

  • To monitor back-room supply levels and assist with ordering supplies when needed.

  • Communicates daily needs with the transportation department and District Managers.

  • To ensure all donations are processed expediently from the donation door to the sales floor.

  • To maintain safe and appropriate conditions in the backroom areas.

  • To ensure a proper schedule is written and posted to meet production goals.

  • To observe and ensure compliance with personnel and safety policies and procedures.

  • To use the cash register to total sales, accept payment, authorize voids, returns, exchanges and credits for merchandise only. This job function will only be required in an emergency.

  • To ensure production employees always have the necessary materials to meet their production goals.

  • To assist the Store Manager in achieving/exceeding sales goals, and to assist in implementing a contingency plan if goals are not being met.

  • To assist the Store Manager in corrective coaching and training and development of production employees. Document all coaching, training, and development of employees.

  • To create a working environment conducive to meeting all goals by multitasking and adapting to unforeseen opportunities that would impact production goals.

  • Assists in scheduling employees with a focus on adequate coverage of store operation to ensure all donations are processed from the donation door to the sales floor on the day they are received.

  • Performs all duties of all store production personnel including donation receiving, sorting, hanging, pricing of merchandise, cleaning of store, etc.

  • Keeps the store clean and hazard free by vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, emptying trash, and cleaning the bathrooms.

  • Performs other related job duties as assigned by management.

  • Must be able to conduct ongoing training and development of production employees

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule at short notice, including nights and weekends, and occasionally, long hours.

  • Must be able to use repetitive hand movement when buttoning, sorting, hanging and zipping garments.

  • Must be able to engage in prolonged standing, walking and in frequent bending, squatting, and stretching.

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced work environment with occasional periods of high volume.

  • Must have knowledge of brands and value of clothes, furniture, and household items.


Requirements:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Leadership, team building, and mentoring experience and/or training experience preferred.

  • Prefer a background in leading teams in retail sales, production, manufacturing, or assembly.

  • Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to pass MVR check and provide proof of a valid driver’s license, liability insurance, vehicle registration and a current vehicle inspection sticker.

  • Must be proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI and other programs.

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.


Working Conditions:

Frequent physical exertion, frequent movement, exposure to donated goods and materials, conditioned indoor temperatures with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather conditions, occasional travel in district area.
