Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of industrial manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of steel manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through observation and team input.
  • Notify appropriate management of work injuries, perform incident or accident investigations, and complete appropriate reports.
  • Drive the quality objectives of the plant by ensuring product meets customer and internal requirements through product and process inspections.
  • Facilitate and perform equipment set-up or adjustments when required.
  • Troubleshoot operational and equipment problems to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Work with the Quality Department to identify production quality issues with quick resolution and communicate those effectively to the Teammates.
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager and Sales to ensure that inventory levels are at a safe and efficient level for shipping and customer demands are met.
  • Explore and identify cost reductions and continuous improvement initiatives through CI meetings.
  • Facilitate and promote documented training and sign-offs to meet quality expectations by ensuring all employees are trained to perform their respective jobs including the purpose of the safety features of their specific machine, workstation controls, tools and equipment while maintaining the 30,60,90-day evaluations.
  • Effectively directs hourly workforce using leadership skills to meet production goals and objectives. Issues discipline as required.
  • Responsible for daily staffing requirements including reassignments, transfers or mandatory over requirements as needed.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure smooth transactions of mill orders.
  • Manage the budget and headcount within the parameters set by the Plant Manager.
  • Communicate with the Plant Manager to organize shift schedules, production rates, mill conditions and post information and policies.
  • Review daily operational reports to communicate operational, manufacturing, maintenance issues and shift events to management team to prevent operational delays.
  • Develop and maintain KPI reports and help drive improvements to better them with Teams input.
  • Performs payroll and production system computer functions.
  • Participate and Lead in continuous improvement and yield projects.

SUMMARY

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Engineering.

  • Experience or knowledge of steel manufacturing is preferred.
