Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned production supervisor to lead the B shift Jemison Production Team in the manufacturing and assembly of satellite components. You will develop resource plans, manage staffing, and drive quality while coordinating with engineering on production readiness.

The role requires a strong track record in aerospace manufacturing, Lean initiatives, and a commitment to continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in a supervision/leadership role on aerospace development programs or complex manufacturing.
  • Experience with discreet production and processing through the manufacturing flow process.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dotted line leadership to the B shift Jemison Production Team, including planning, interviews, hiring, task assignment, and performance reviews.
  • Interface with area/site leadership to prioritize work per production schedule and goals.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specs.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering to document and standardize production processes and transitions to production.
  • Forecast constraints and develop recovery plans for engine delivery schedules.
  • Identify continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as required to fulfill the mission.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will provide dotted line leadership to the production organization on B shift in the manufacturing and assembly of a new satellite.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide dotted line leadership to the B shift Jemison Production Team (Mon-Thur, 3:00pm – 1:30 am), including developing resource plans, authoring job descriptions, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and contributing to performance reviews.
  • Interface with area and site leadership to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Develop and implement cost reductions processes and efficiency improvement measures.
  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes.
  • Work with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop production ready manufacturing approach.
  • Review work instructions and provide recommended changes where necessary.
  • Assure continued training and skills development to attract, develop, and retain great people.
  • Setup new production work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup, etc.
  • Assist with transition from development to production by working alongside engineering to successfully transition the product.
  • Forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to the engine delivery schedule.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervision/leadership position, working on aerospace development programs, production lines, or discreet complex technical manufacturing.
  • Experience with discreet production and processing through the manufacturing flow process.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Proficient computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must be able to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent
  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
