Eaton's IS AER FMC division in Los Angeles seeks a Production Manager on 1st shift to lead a manufacturing cell focused on aerospace hydraulic components, drive lean initiatives, and ensure on-time delivery, quality and cost goals. You will manage production schedules, coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and quality to meet customer requirements and safety standards.

Job description

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Production Manager - 1st Shift. This is a full time, on-site position based at our Los Angeles aerospace manufacturing facility.The LA facility has approximately 300 employees (and growing) and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.The Production Manager will be responsible for overall management of a manufacturing cell, focused factory, or work center. Overall responsibility for leading manufacturing team in achieving production schedule, product quality, product cost, and employee safety goals. Coordinates with all functional and service groups to meet customer requirements. Drives performance to achieve or exceed financial plans and strategic goals. Leverages resources to coach and motivates personnel to create high performance culture.The expected annual salary range for this role is $112000 - $164000 a year.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.What you’ll do:Review production orders/schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Prepare operational schedule and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.Review production and operating reports to assess performance indicators and take appropriate action to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Reduce cost of operations by implementing Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and Continuous Improvement. Initiate Kaizen events as necessary to achieve best in class operations.Manages and directs all production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.Evaluates operational performance in order to facilitate performance management, merit promotions, job transfers, dismissals, commendations, etc.Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.Supports engineering during the design phase, providing factory capabilities and testability input into the design and new product introduction phase to ensure customer manufacturing delivery times are met.Collaborate with peers and supervisors to determine key goals and objectives, and corresponding metrics, to be completed during a determined period. Review and amend these actions as appropriate. Focus on timely achievement of these goals and objectives. Coordinates and assists with business initiatives, participating on teams in order to drive best practices across enterprise including but not limited to understanding, supporting, promoting and improving the processes that are followed in Eaton’s quality assurance initiatives and Environmental, Health, and SafetyImplement and enforce all policies, practices, and benefits and employ effective leadership techniques and employee relation’s activities to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all people working at the facility. Develops, motivates and coaches team members; participates in interviews for potential new hires. Assists in the creation of training plans and programs, and promotes cross-training opportunities for departmentQualifications:Required Basic Qualifications:Minimum Bachelor’s Degree field from an accredited institutionMinimum five (5) years experience of operations/manufacturingMinimum one (1) year supervisor/manager of people experienceThis position requires access to export-controlled information. Active Duty Military is exempt from this geographical limitationPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, BusinessFive years’ experience in a factory/manufacturing aerospace industryTwo years’ experience supervisory/managerial experience in a manufacturing or distribution function.Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineeringExperience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teamingWorking knowledge of Quality standards and Continuous Improvement techniques.Skills:Ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teamsKnowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirementsUnderstanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts: production planning, scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receivingKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials managementThorough Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processesKnowledge of financial concepts and techniques utilized to establish value propositions of operational changesExperience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques.Familiarity with SPC principles and methodsAbility to work well with others in the areas of teamwork and communication.Ability to logically solve problems and to keep projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
